Page Six Mrs. Rhodes Tells Folks Hogs and Bad Weather We are still having plenty of warm rainy weather and people’s hogs are still eating their heads off. Some few have killed but it’s mighty hot on it, if you don’t put it in the freezer locker. I am afraid when winter does come it will be too rough. Fishing seems to be done with. All the rivers and ponds are too muddy now. I saw a lady Sunday that is a bigger fisherwoman than I or least she had three reels and rods and goes to Pamlico and down east fishing most any time. She invited me ■ to go with her some time. If I live long enough, I hope to have a reel and rod so I can catch big ones, oto. Well, my little friend, Wayne Price, is still in the lead in our contest. Just keep on voting and he will surely win. Mrs. Harris 111 1 am sorry to hear Mrs. Pattie Harris is critically ill at Hex Hos pital. We hope and pray for her recovery soon. Mr. Wallace Liles and Mr. Wil liam Wood were home for the weekend with their parents. They are stationed at Fort Jackson, S. C., at present. Mrs. Pearce, I thank you for passing your Zebulon Record on to Mrs. S. A. Glover, so we could find out and buy a piano for our Eastern Star Chapter. Mrs. Glov er, we thank you for the effort you made in letting us know about it. We are very proud to get it for we needed it so much. God bless you and your family in your new home. Mr. L. G. Faulkner killed three nice hogs last week. Mrs. P. P. Pace is improving her yard so much you will hardly know the place. She laid flag stone walks and seeded grass and that pretty fish pond is such a pretty view from the back door. Mrs. Vera Rhodes took Mrs. E. W. Hood to Raleigh Saturday to spend the week with Mrs. Donnie Gay, who is sick. I stayed till Monday with relatives and went to the funeral Sunday, of It. D. Gay, Jr. It was a military fu neral which was very impressive but I don’t believe if I had a doz en killed overthere I would have wanted them brought back. Show at Wendell The show at Wendell High School last Thursday was very good. I just wish everyone could have seen it. It was the crucifix ion of Christ. It was very sad but true that he died to save a lost world and for you and me, that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Dr. Mixon preached a wonder ful sermon last Sunday on Chris tian literature and books. Dr. Ernest Broughton taught a good lesson. I enjoyed it so much and it did my heart good to see such a large class —87 women and not a vacant chair. It makes me feel bad to see so SPECIAL SPECIAL - ill : Yo£/ CAM AFFORD ! &/V£ Fl/RNtTURE! 3-Pt. Walnut Poster Bedroom 3-Pc. Won’t you please think it over and decide to come on and help us have a good big class. You don’t know how much we would like to have you come. Well, Christmas is just around the corner, I hope all will be ready when it gets here. It doesn’t thrill me quite like it used to, but anyway, I am glad we have it for it was Christ’s birth day. —Mrs. Vera Rhodes.
