Friday, January 7,1949 Mrs. Rhodes Wishes All A Very Happy New Year I want to take the privilege of wishing all my friends and ac quaintances a Happy and Prosper ous New Year. I hope we all have made our New Year Resolutions. I believe some have for we had 108 at Sunday School Sunday. We will have a supply preacher next Sunday to preach. I didn’t get his name. We should all come out to hear him for we are looking a pastor and we want all to be pleased No better way could we begin another year and con tinue through the year than with the miracles of regeneration mani fested in our lives. The way I love my neighbors as myself is by doing something for others and forgetting myself. I don’t feel I have completed a day if I don’t do my daily good deeds. I sure do miss Mr. and Mrs. MeCrim mon. Mrs. E. W. Hood is still in Ral eigh with Mrs. D. A. Gay. Little Don is going to have his tonsils out this week. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Layne re turned from a 10 day stay in Chat tanooga, Tenn. We missed them a lot while they were away. Mrs. H. A Hodge and Mrs. Vera Rhodes went with Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Layne to Goldsboro Sunday p. m. Mr. and Mrs. John Broughton visited her sister in Henderson last week. Mr Hubert Broughton of Lynch burg, Va., visited in the home of W. S. and John Broughton last Tuesday and Wednesday. Mrs. J. ,R. Bolton is better. We welcome Mr. Poole and family in our community. Also Mr. and Mrs Jack Privett. We have not got those te’ephones yet. I will let you know when we do. I might name the Mystery Melody some time. Well, an important event i s scheduled for this week. Horton of Las Cruces, New Mexico, were honored at a dinner held at the Woman’s Club in Zebulon Those attending were, Dr. and Mrs. Horton, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Bush. Chapel Hill, Dr. Albert Hor ton, Norfolk, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hugh, Jr., and family, Greensboro, Mr. Ransom Hoyle. Winterville, Mr. and Mrs Graham Chamblee and son, Newport News, Va.; Mr. Douglas Chamblee. Ral eigh, Miss Edvthe Brooks Wil mington. Deleware, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Mitchell Leads Locals To 60-51 Cage Victory Led by fast-stepping Carlton Mitchell and lanky Hilliard Greene, the Zebulon All-Stars staged a last quarter rally to top ple the visiting Knightdale All- Stars 60-51 in a basketball game in the Wakelon gymnasium Wed nesday night. Knightdale had overcome a 4-point halftime lead to pull ahead, 47-45, with less than five minutes left to play. Coach Mitchell employed a two team system, alternated the teams through the first three quarters. He started the Zebulon second string, which held an 8-6 ad vantage when they left the floor at the end of the first quarter.
