From one gallon of wat er remove one cupful and replace with a cupful of good vinegar. Bring this to a boil and pour the pickles. Repeat the process on the fifth, sixth and seventh days. Note that you reheat the liquid these days, letting it come to a good boil and adding vinegar to make up what evaporate. On the eighth day put the pickles into glass jars.
