Page Eight Dr. Sylvester Greene Is Speaker at Rotary (Continued from Page 1) members of the board of directors of civic groups in Durham are Ro tarians, and yet the Durham Ro tary Club itself sponsors and en dorses no programs or drives. Dr. Greene said that Rotary is a way of life which a man carries with him in his business and pro fessional career. The talk proved to be one of the most interesting the Club has been privileged to hear. Paul Year gin Takes Army Finance Work Paul J. Yeargin, son of Dester Yeargin, RFD 2, Zebulon, N. C., fefadYmted f r om the Accounting and Auditing Course on July 22 from the Army Finance School. This was announced today by Brig. Gen. Emmett J. Bean, Commandant of the Army Finance School and Commanding General of the Army Finance Center in St. Louis, Miss ouri. Mr. Maurice E. Peloubet, Senior Partner of Pogsorr, Peloubet and Company Certified Public Ac countants of New York, addressed the graduating clas. He was intro duced by Col. W. P. Campbell, Chief of the Army Audit Agency in Washington, D. C. This was the second class to graduate in this course inaugur ated at the School. Lasting five months, this course was organized to train selected officers, warrant officers, enlisted personnel and personnel and civillians in Army finance, auditing and accounting procedures. The students learn basic accounting, fundamentals of military property, sales accounts, industrial property accounts, non appropriated funds, and civilian employees’ pay and leave records. Miss House Honored At Two Bridge Parties Miss Jocelyn House, who will be married to Spencer Turrentine of Bell Buckle, Tenn., on August 20, was honored here Tuesday evening when Mrs. R. Vance Brown and Mrs. Fred L. Page en tertained at bridge for Miss House. Four tables were in play amid a setting of colorful summer flow ers. High, low and floating prizes were presented the winners. Miss House was given a corsage and iced tea spoons in her silver pat tern. Out of town guests, Mrs, Vernon Powers of Nashville, Mrs. Jake Hadley of Greenville and Mrs. Paul Wright of Salisbury were remembered with gifts. Iced drinks were served during the game and bridal ices, cakes and salted nuts were served after the play. Guests included the honoree, her mother, Mrs. A. R. Miss House and Mrs. Jack Hinton, Jr. of Ral eigh, a recent bride, were given corsages of v/hite asters. Mrs. Ted Pippin won high score prize and Mrs. Ben Cheeves low score.
