Tuesday, February 7, 1950 Zebulon Personal Items Mr. D. C. Pearce has come to Raleigh from McGuire Hospital in Richmond. He is staying with his son, William Stanley, at 1930 Bernard Street, and is doing as well as could be expected. He has expressed his sincere appreciation for the many cards and flowers sent him by his friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Miller and children and O. B. Spivey, Jr., came from Norfolk, Friday night to spend the weekend with Mrs. O. B. Spivey. Mrs. Spivey returned with them for a three-day visit. Mrs. Judd Robertson and Mrs. Barrie Davis visited Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Davis in Rolesville last night. Mrs. C. E. Flowers has been ill with influenza for several days. Mrs. Lois Wall has been confin ed to her bed with flu. Carolyn Massey returned to Meredith College today after be ing home between exams. The father of Mrs. Jerry Buffa lo has been sent to the hospital, and she is spending a few days in Oxford. Carl Matheny is confined to his bed with flu. Mrs. C. T. Mitchell of Elizabeth City is visiting her sister, Mrs. W. C. Campen, for a few days. Dr. and Mrs. Charles Flowers have returned from a visit to Bal timore, with Dr. and Mrs. Charles Flowers, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Daniel Massey and children of Whitakers visited Mrs. Pearl Massey on Sun day. Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Coltrane re turned from Florida Sunday night. Mr. Francis Wade is sick with flu. The Allen Youngs have moved into the apartment formerly occu pied by Mr. and Mrs. Malbert Smith. Guests Sunday in the home of the Garland Godwins were Mrs. Annie Godwin, Miss Cleva God win, and Mrs. Raymond Godwin of Godwin, and Mrs. Stewart Finch, Jr., and children of Henderson. Mrs. Farmer Hostess The Diamond Bridge Club met last Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Pat Farmer. Jonquils and spirea in lovely arrangements dec orated the living room. Mrs. Howard Beck won high score for club members and Mrs. Frank Kemp high for guests. Mrs. Bernice Bunn won low score prize. Delicious refreshments in the Valentine motif of molded ice cream, cup cakes, pickle and cof fee were served by the hostess. Miss Dorothy Bryant of Raleigh spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Pete Bryant. Little Martha Liles has been sick with intestinal flu. Mrs. L. M. Massey will sing at a meeting of the State Farm Bu reau in Raleigh on Sunday and Monday. She will sing at vespers on Sunday night, and during the program on Monday. Mrs. Ann Harris of Kinston and Jack Harris of Panama, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Davis. Sunday visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Hall Miller and children, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Wall, and Har old Wall, of Wake Forest and Pro fessor and Mrs. William Soule of Wake Forest College, and daugh ter. Mrs. W. C. Campen is confined to her bed with flu. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Cherry of Stokes visited relatives in Zebulon Sunday. Mrs. Martin Feted Mrs. E. D. Martin of Zebulon, R. 1, was honored Sunday evening at a surprise birthday buffet supper when members of the immediate family gathered at her home. The honoree was presented a shower of gifts from the guests. Those present for the occasion were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Martin of the home; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Martin and family, Mrs. Haywood Stallings, all of Zebulon; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mar tin of Selma; Mr. and Mrs. G. H Edwards. Carl Martin and Charles Martin, all of Raleigh; and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Hendricks of Dunn. Hostess at Bridge Mrs. Wallace Chamblee was hostess to her bridge club and a number of guests last Thursday night at her home. Church Flowers The Methodists and Baptists held joint services in the Metho dist Church Sunday night. Mrs. C. T. Mitchell of Elizabeth City brought a beautiful arrangement of calla lilies in honor of her moth er, Mrs. De Ella Flowers who would have been ninety years old. The Methodists wish to thank Mrs. Aaron Lowry for her thoughtfulness in bringing her flowers from the Baptist Church for the joint services.
