Friday, March 10, 1950 PERSONAL ITEMS Miss Margaret Ruth Thomas of Wendell spent the day with Betsy Alford Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. A1 Beach of Ply mouth visited Mr. and Mrs. James Alford Sunday. Bobby Gill was taken back to Rex Hospital Wednesday. He started running a temperature after an appendectomy. Mrs. Ruric Gill is still sick in bed with flu. Mrs. R. H. Bridge! s is sick in bed with a severe cold. Miss Marguerite Brantley is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Willard Gill. Mrs. Carl Glover is still serious ly ill in Rex Hospital. Mrs. Glvnn Dickerson of Bunn spent Wednesday with Mrs. Lucy Bunn. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Pearce of Raleigh spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. William Bunn. Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Coltrane met Dr. and Mrs. Tom Kilkellv and friends from New York in Durham Sundav. Thev had dinner there and looked over Duke University and then traveled to Chapel Hill. Mrs. W. H. Jones of Raleigh, daughter of Mr. M. T. Debnam. is in Hospital for an operation. Her children will be W'ith Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Debnam until Sundav. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Davis. Dennis and Teddv of Middlesex visited Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Davis Wednes day nieht. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sawyer spent the weekend with relatives in and near Rockv Mount. Mrs. L. E. Long is still sick in bed. Mr. and Mrs. James Lee spent Friday n’Vht with Mr. and Mrs. Worth Hinton. Attending the Lions Club Chart er ni"ht at Mamever last from Zobidon were Mr. and Mrs. Worth Hinton, Mr. and Mrs. ,T. C. Debnam, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Manning and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kannon. Raleigh announce the birth of a daughter, Mary Katherine, on March 5 at Rex Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Lowry of Richmond. Va. spent Tuesday night with Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Lowry. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Lowrv vis ited relatives in Dunn on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Craven Brown. Mrs. W. H. Winstead and Mrs. Al lan Pippin* visited Mr. and Mrs. Jack Winstead in Durham Sunday. They also visited Faye Winstead, who is one of the first ten patients in the new cerebral palsy hospital in Durham. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Liles of Wilson, spent the day Sunday, with his sister Mrs. Repsie McGee. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon D. Fair and son. Randal, have returned to their home in Norfolk, Va., after spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Repsie McGee. Cub Scouts Meet The Cub Scouts met Tuesday at the clubhouse. It was very en couraging to see almost as many parents as'seouts. One new mem ber, Leslie Strickland was initiated into the ranks. Games were play- Irby D Gil! Jay Godwin was winner of the games and Joseph Temples was aw r arded the prize for the best handicraft. The assignment for next month is kite making. Each scout is urged to make several. A basketball game between the cub scouts of Zebulon and Knight dale will take place next week. Mrs. Bunn Hostess Mrs. Falc Bunn was hostess to the Wednesday Afternoon Club on Wednesday at her home on Gan non Avenue. The living room was beautifully decorated with ar rangements of narcissus. Delicious refreshments of chick en salad, pickle, potato chips, hot rolls, pecan pies with whipped cream, and coffee were served. Guests were Mesdames W. C. Campen, S. G. Flowers. J. F. Col trane. A. R. House. F. L. Page, E. ' H - Moser. M. B. Chamblee. Gladys Johnson. C. V. Whitley, John Hort on, Charles Flowers, and J. G. Kemp. Mrs. Brown Hostess Mrs. R. Vance Brown entertain ed her bridge club and guests at her home here on Wednesday af ternoon. Upon arrival guests were served delicious refreshments of chicken salad sandwiches, nuts, pickle and cherry tarts with coffee. After three progressions high score for club members was awarded Mrs. Wallace Chamblee, h>'gh score for guests, Mrs. Foster Finch and consolation prize to Mrs. R. H. Brantley. Iced drinks were served during plav. Guests were Mesdames Ferd Davis. Wallace Temple, Wallace Chamhlee. Eugene Privette, R. H. Brantlev. Ralph Talton, Howard i Beck and Foster Finch. We have a person now to lead the singing for us. He is well known by everyone as Mr. Carl Pearce. He is making his home with Mr. and Mrs. Buck Richards. Keep up the good work Mr. Carl and trust in God. Rev. Vivian Evans ate supper in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Hicks Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Fernie Richards and son, Terry, ate supper and spent the evening with Mr. and Mrs. Buck Hicks Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Mitchell vis ited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Creech last Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. Buck Richards and Mr. Carl Pearce visited in the home of Mrs. Norwood on Thurs day. Mr. Arkell Phillips visited his i daughter, Mrs. Erdine Creech, on Friday. We are very sorry to hear that Mr. Lelon Maynard underwent an operation in Rex Hospital. He is on the second floor, room 214, I think. Jack Creech was quite alarmed Thursday afternoon when his lit tle daughter swallowed a button that was as large as a quarter.
