UNION CHAPEL
Abide in me, and I in you. As
the branch cannot bear fruit of
itself, except it abide in the vine;
no more can ye, except ye abide
in me. John 15:4.
Choir practice was a success Fri
day night. The singing was also
better than it had been anytime
at all. I’m sure everyone enjoyed it
better.
Friday night was also a success
for the organizing of the Polly
annan Club. The officers were
chosen and the time was set for
the next meeting, which will take
place in April in the home of Mrs.
Julia Draughon. Everybody is in
vited to attend.
Revival has started and I hope
we get more to attend in the mid
dle of the week. The public is in
vited to attend.
We have new cement steps at
the church, and we want to thank
everyone who helped fix them.
Mr. and Mrs. Buck Richards and
Rev. Vivian Evans went to Rocky
Mount for the weekend. Rev.
Evans went farther on to Green
ville. They enjoyed their trip
very much.
Mrs. Gladys Bobbitt and Mrs.
Woodrow Richards went to Ral
eigh on Saturday. Hope they en
joyed their trip.
Mr. Pete Creech and son, Floyd,
were visitors in the home of Mrs.
Clem Creech.
Mrs. Margaret Cunningham and
sister, Gladys, were visitors in the
home of Mrs. Woodrow Richards
on Wednesday.
Mrs. Sterling Mitchell visited her
sister before she left for Rocky
Mount.
Rev. and Mrs. Mills of Apex vis
ited in the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Buck Richards on Thursday. They
came to see Rev. Evans about the
revival which he will conduct dur

God’s speed and recovery to all

Little Mernar Jean Denton has
a very deep cold and is sick too.
Hope she will be better soon.
While thumbing through a book
of religious poems the other day, I
found one which I think will give
strength to those who feel they
have fallen by the w’ayside.
GIVE UP?
Give up because the cross is heavy, |
Sink down in weakness ’neath
its load?
Give up and say you can’t endure
Too rough, too toilsome is the
road?
Ah, no, rejoice you have a cross,
A cross which none but you may
bear;
Why, you are rich, when by that
cross
You earn your right a crown to
wear.
Give up while there is still in hea
ven
A God who notes the sparrow’s
fall?
Give up when He so longs to help
you,
But only wants to hear you call?
He clothes the lilies, feeds the
birds;
Would He to you, then, pay less
heed?
Look up to Him with prayerful
heart.
He will supply your every need.
