Tuesday, July 4, 1950 Mrs. Jack Potter Feted By Mrs. Ferd Davis Mrs. Ferd Davis entertained at bridge Friday night in honor of Mrs. Jack Potter, recent bride. Her home was decorated throughout with beautiful arrangements of gladioli and mixed flowers. Mrs. Potter was presented with a corsage of white carnations by the hostess. After several progressions, high score prize was presented Mrs. Frank Coiner, second high to Miss Nancy Whitley, and low to Mrs. Armstrong Cannady. The honoree was presented crystal in her chos en pattern by the hostess, and Mrs. Barrie Davis, recent bride, was remembered with a gift. Playing were Mesdames Jack Potter, Barrie Davis, Ted Davis, Garland Godwin, Armstrong Can nady, Herb Appenzeller, Frank Coiner, Ralph Talton, Fred Smith, Ben Thomas, and Misses Carolyn Massey and Nancy Whitley. Fidelis Class Meeting The Bessie Davis Fidelis Class will meet tonight at the home of Mrs. Theo. B. Davis at eight o’- clock. Mrs. Verena Simpson is the associate hostess. Attend FFA Camp Seventeen members of the Wakelon Future Farmers of Amer ica left this morning accompanied by Mr. Ed Ellington for White Lake. While at the FFA camp there, they will enter competition with other clubs for awards. Last year the banner was won by the Wakelon Club for the first time. The banner is awarded on a point basis and the club having the most points wins. Mrs. Brown Hostess Mrs. Vance Brown was hostess to her bridge club and guests Fri day night at her home on Arendell Avenue. Beautiful arrangements of mixed flowers decorated her home. After several progressions high score for club members was a warded Mrs. Donald Stallings and low to Mrs. Bob Sawyer. High for guests was presented Mrs. F. L. Page. A delicious dessert course was served by the hostess. Playing were Mesdames A. S. Hinton, Donald Stallings, Julian Horton, Bob Sawyer, Milton How ell, F. L. Page, James Alford, and Eldred Rountree. Misses Nancy Whitley and Caro lyn Massey leave Tuesday for New York for six w'eeks. Miss Molly DeFord of Norfolk arrived Saturday to spend through July 4 with Miss Mary Fisher Finch. They were roommates at Greensboro College. Mr. and Mrs. R. Vance Brown will leave Tuesday for the moun tains of North Carolina. They will pick up Ruth, who has been at Camp Dellwood for a month, and will visit in Asheville. They will return to Zebulon Sunday. Mrs. J. J. Horton of Vanceboro is visiting her granddaughter, Mrs. Wilbur Debnam. She will be here for a week. Mrs. Norman Screw's left Satur day for a two week’s visit to Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Dave Privette and Frank returned Saturday from a visit to Jacksonville, Fla. They were ac companied home by Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Alford, who will remain through the 4th. Mrs. Joseph Temple, Sherry and Joey have been visiting her moth er in Mebane.
