Four PEARCE NEWS The W. M. S. met last Thursday night in the home of Mrs. J. M. Ferguson. There were 17 mem bers and on visitor, Mrs. Hattie Stallings of Oxford, preesnt. Mrs. R. M. Johnson, the presi dent, presided. Prayer was led by Mrs. H. K. Baker, Mrs. H. K. Privette, and Mrs. R. M. Johnson. Mrs. Ferguson gave the program which was very interesting. After the program there was a social hour when each member received an apron from her secret pal. The hostess served delicious refreshments of cake and ice cream and coffee. Mrs. Leslie Pearce of Raleigh is spending a few days with Mrs. A. C. Perry. Mrs. R. M. Johnson had as her guest last week Mrs. Hattie Stal lings of Oxford. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pearce of Raleigh and Norfolk spent Sunday evening with the H. K. Privettes. Mrs. P. G. Pearce and Mrs. Ivon Pearce went to Wendell Sunday evening to see the picture, “I’d Climb the Highest Mountain.” I felt more like being in church than at a show. It is worth seeing. Mrs. H. K. Privette, Kirby, Elmo, Millie, and Tillie went to Wilson Sunday to see Miss Reba Privette. Mr. Buddie Cattlette and his mother, Mrs. Catlette, of Wake field visited Mrs. P. G. Pearce this week. Mrs. Hattie Stallings of Oxford is spending the week with her brother, the L. F. Perrys. Mr. Talmadge Pearce went with his unit of the National Guard to Fort Bragg last weekend. Mrs. J. W. Johnson spent Satur day night with her mother, Mrs. Catlette, of Wakefield. The W. H. Kellys, principal of Bun High, moved last week to their new home in Bunn. We sure did hate to see them go, but we enjoyed having them live in our community this long, and we wel come them back and hope they will accept. Mrs. Edwin Pearce and boys of Wakefield visited in the home of the 'Jack Ellingtons last Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Zollie Pearce and daughter, Mae, visited the L. D. Perrys Saturday night. Miss Tootsie Ray of Raleigh spent the weekend with her par ents, the Fred Rays. Mis Marjorie Murray spent the weekend with her grandmother, Mrs. Pearl Strickland, of Spring Hope. Miss Hilda Ray of Raleigh spent the weekend with her parents, the Jim Rays. Mrs. P. G. Pearce and Mrs. Ivon visited a while with Mrs. P. G. Pearce’s mother, Mrs. Catlette, of Wakefield Sunday. The Ladies Adult Class met last Tuesday night in the home of Mrs. J. M. Pearce, with Mrs. Otha Pearce, Mrs. Bertis, and Miss Maude Pearce as joint hostesses, with 11 members and 1 visitor present. Plans were made to quilt another quilt for the class. Mrs. Otha Upchurch gave the devo tional, with Mrs. Gladys Baker presiding in the absence of the president. The hostesses served delicious refreshments of chicken salad sandwiches, mixed cakes, and coco colas. Miss Barbara Jane Perry attend ed a kitchen shower at Miss Lillie Ferrell’s last Thursday night hon oring Miss Susan Stallings, April bride-elect of Zebulon. Mrs. Ivon Pearce is on the sick list this week. We hope for her and all the others I don’t know about a speedy recovery.
