Tuesday, June 19, 1951 PERSONAL ITEMS Members of the Watson family had a picnic lunch at Pullen Park on Sunday. Present were Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Watson and children of Fayetteville, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Watson and family of Franklinton, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Watson and children of New Bern, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Watson and children of Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Finch and Fay of Zebulon, and Mrs. Julia Collins of Wendell. Gwendolyn Kitchings Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kit chings, left last week to make her home in Nashville, Tenn., with her husband who is attending Nash ville Technical College. Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Whitley, Miss Nancy Whitley and Miss Ann Cox of Mt. Olive are taking a trip to Niagara Falls and Canada. They will be gone for two weeks. Robert Kitchings left yesterday for San Antonio, Texas, which will be his initial station for basic training with the Air Force. Luncheon guests of Mrs. Wallace Temple Wednesday were Mrs. Eugene Harper and son, Judson, of Knightdale, Mrs. Charles Leon ard and son, Charles, Jr., of Thomasville, and Miss Margaret Broughton of Raleigh. They were classmates of Mrs. Temple at Mere dith College. Henry Kitchings, star on the 1951 Wakelon baseball team, is catching for the Raleigh American Legion team. On Saturday night he led the Legion Juniors at bat, hitting one homerun. Miss Betty Ann Smith arrived from Florida Saturday night to spend the summer in Zebulon. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith went to Richmond Sunday and will go to New York for a week this Sat urday on a buying trip for the shop which they plan to open in the store back of the bus station. Miss Laura James Sexton has returned to WCUNC for a six weeks’ summer school course. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Scarboro and family spent the day in Dur ham with her brother. While there they visited Mr. Joe Hinnant who is a patient at Duke Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Jones and family spent Sunday at White Lake. Mrs. Eugene Privette will leave June 25, for four weeks of sum mer school at WCUNC. Mrs. Rondall Phillips is visiting her sister in Washington, D. C., until Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Parker of Florence, S. C., spent the weekend with his mother. Also present in the Parker home was a grand daughter, Jo Crowder of Raleigh. Mrs. T. B. Burke and Mr. Ben Burke of Goldston, Miss Sarah Burke of Siler City and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Womble of Pittsboro visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ed Horton Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ruric Gill carried Mr. and Mrs. Ruric Gill, Jr., to Sumter, S. C., Sunday, where they will make their home. NOTICE! Mr. and Mrs. Gene Utley of Kin ston spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Craven Brown. Mrs. Avon Privett has returned home from Rex Hospital. Mrs. Jercy Carlton and daugh ters, Marian and Cindy, of Char lotte, spent last night and today with her sister, Mrs. Ruril Gill. Visitors in the F. D. Finch home Sunday were Mrs. N. B. Finch and Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Finch of Spring Hope. Dr. and Mrs. Frank Chamblee of Spring Hope visited friends and relatives in Zebulon Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Irby Gill and Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Wade and family spent the weekend at Pamlico Beach. Miss Mozelle Rogers, a former teacher of Wakelon, visited friends here Saturday. Mrs. Ben Mercer, Jr., of Wilson is spending a few days with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Fred Beck. Mr. Howard Beck is spending this week at Maxton. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Bridgers, Bobby and Linda, and Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Jones attended the Bridgers family reunion at Jones boro Heights Sunday. About 75 were present. Mr. and Mrs. Noel Crowder and Douglas spent the weekend at Newport News. Mrs. M. G. Crowder, Mrs. Fred Hales and Mr. and Mrs. Battle Corbett attended the wedding of Gilbert Corbett in Coats on Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Davis and children attended the Farmer re union in Gladys, Va., Sunday. A bout 70 were present. Brenda Bunn has whooping cough. Miss Margaret Bullock of Dur ham spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. James Creech. House Warming Mrs. Ruric Gill and her daugh ter, Mrs. Charles Wootton of Wen dell entertained at a surprise house warming Tuesday night in honor of Mrs. Randolph Hendricks who has just moved into her new home. The home was beautifully deco rated with arrangements of roses and snapdragons. Guests were greeted at the door by Mrs. E. H. Moser. Campen, Willard Gill, Thomas Monk, Ral eigh Alford, Armstrong Cannady, Falc Bunn, Guy Massey, Forrest Hendricks, Ed Richardson, Bernice Bunn, W. A. Allman, Mrs. Joe Wootton of Wendell, Miss Faye Gill and little Paula Jo Wootton. Bridge Luncheon Mrs. Robert Dawson, assisted by Mrs. Irby Gill, entertained her bridge club and a number of guests at a bridge luncheon Thurs day at her home. Her home was beautifully decorated with ar rangements of roses, hydrangeas, dahlias and other spring flowers. After a delicious three course luncheon was served bridge was played. At the conclusion of play high score prize for club members was presented Mrs. Eugene Privette and high for guests to Mrs. Charles Flowers. Low score prize was pre sented Mrs. R. H. Brantley. Mrs. Hugh Richardson was remember ed with a gift. Present were Mesdames Vance Brown, H. C. Wade, Eugene Priv ette, Ferd Davis, Wallace Temple, R. H. Brantley, Wallace Chamblee, Charles Flowers, Wilson Braswell, L. M. Massey, Ralph Talton, Hugh Richardson, Worth Hinton, George Henry Temple and Miss Carolyn Massey.
