Friday, July 27, 1951 PEARCE NEWS Our Sunday School held its an nual picnic at Pullen Park last Friday with a good attendance. Our pastor, wife, and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lamm and Pattie Lou, were present along with sev eral other visitors. We enjoyed having every one. Mr. Fernie Baker, Mr. Harold Beddingfield of Bunn, Miss Eliza B .nn Smith of Spring Hope and "Miss Velda Jean Pearce spent Sun day at White Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Brantley have been visiting Mr. Brantley’s mother, Mrs. Mavis Edward who is in Duke Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Perry, Law rence and Ned Perry and Mrs. Lucy Perry visited friends in Ral eigh Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Pearce vis ited her brother, Mr. Buddie Cat lette, who is in Rex Hospital last Saturlay. They also visited their son, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Pearce, of Clayton. Mrs. Hattie Clifton of Raleigh spent several days visiting her brother, Mr. M. G. Privette, last week. Mrs. Presley Gay and daughters visited in the home of Mrs. L. D. Pearce Saturday night. Mrs. Helen Johnson has been visiting her brother, Mr. Buddie Catlette, in Rex Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Brodie Privette of Pilot visited the L. D. Pearces last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Pearce of Riley visited Mrs. Pearce’s grand parents, the M. G. Privettes last week. Mr. and Mrs. Coye Jeans and family spent Sunday with Mrs. Jean’s parents, the Charlie John sons. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith of Riley spent Sunday with Mrs. Smith’s mother, Mrs. J. M. Pearce, who has been sick. Mr. Reginald Pearce is in Rex Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Richards took their baby back to Raleigh to a doctor. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Pearce of Clayton took dinner with his par ents, the P. G. Pearces, Sunday Little Diana May fell from a bed last Thursday night breaking her collarbone. She was also run over by a tractor this spring. I cer cainly hope nothing else happens to her and hope she will soon be well again. Mrs. Raymond Poythress and children spent Friday night with her parents, the A. N. Pearces. She left Saturday morning to be with her husband who is stationed at Key West, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Strickland and family have returned home after spending a week at the beach. Miss Ann Murphy of Virginia is spending several weeks with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wood. Mrs. Garfy Ricnards of Riley has been visiting her daughter in-law and grandson, Mrs. E. G. Richards and Eddie Clifton at Mrs. C. L. Perrys. Thelmo Lee Doyle of Raleigh spent the weekend with her par ents and daughter, the W. S. Gays and Diana Doyle. Miss Hilda Ray of Raleigh spent the weekend with her parents, the Jim Rays. We were glad to see Mrs. R H. Johnson at our Sunday School pic nic. She has been sick so long. The rain is most welcome and the season has been wonderful to the crops. We thank the Dear Lord for everything. Everybody is very busy baming tobacco but let’s not be too tired to go to Church on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Tant and son of Pilot spent the day with her brother, Mr. Jimmie Upchurch. Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Pearce, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ellington have been visiting their son and brother, Mr. Reginal Pearce who is in Rex Hospital. A few of our farmers sold to bacco on the opening at Georgia last week. They reported a good average. Hope it will sell good here, for we’ll need all we can get. Some are preparing to sell on the opening of the eastern market next Thursday. Mrs. P. G. Pearce visited her sister, Mrs. Earl Ray in Auburn last Thursday. Joe B. Deans, charged with speeding, careless and reckless driving, was found guilty and giv en six months, suspended upon payment of a $75 fine and costs. Another action, charging him with driving with no operator’s license, cost him a $25 fine and costs. Henry Harvey Deans was found guilty of being publicly drunk in Zebulon and given 30 days, sus pended on payment of $lO fine and costs. Joseph Watson of Knightdale, guilty of careless and reckless driving in Zebulon, was given 60 days, suspended on payment of SSO fine and costs. Marvin Wade, charged with speeding 50 miles per hour in a 35 mile zone in Zebulon, was J. M. Chevrolet Co.
