Hostess at Reception Mrs. M. E. Horton was hostess at a reception Thursday evening at her home, honoring Miss Susan Burnett of Bluefield, West Virginia, whose wedding to Charles A. Hor ton takes place September 1, 1951. Mrs. L. M. Massey greeted the guests at the door and Miss Car olyn Massey introduced to the re ceiving line composed of the hos tess, Mrs. Ed Ellington, Miss Bur nett, Mrs. Betty Johnson Bass, Mrs. Fred Corbett, Mrs. Charles Cimerro, and Mrs. Francis Wall. Miss Nancy Whitley received at the dining room door. Mrs. Carlton Mitchell presided over the punch bowl. Serving mints, nuts, and bridal cakes were Mesdames R. H. Herring, Frank Kemp, and Misses Ruby Dawson and Ann Strickland. The dining ta ble was covered with a net cloth, the corners of which were caught up with dainty white bows. A miniature bride flanked by cry stal candelabra with white burning tapers were used on the table. All white flowers were used throughout the home. Goodbyes were said to Mrs. Sam Horton and Mrs. George Griffin. About 100 guests called during the evening. Personal Items Mr. and Mrs. Fred Allman of Washington, D. C., spent the weekend with the W. A. Allmans. Mr. and Mrs. Glynn Dickerson of Bunn spent the weekend with Mrs. Lucy Bunn. Mrs. T. A. Little of Marshville is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Herb Appenzeller this week. Herb Appenzeller will receive his M A degree tonight at Wake Forest College. Foster Finch is improving at Duke Hospital following an opera tion for hernia. Mr. and Mrs. F. L. The guests took their places at the table which was decorated in the bridal motif. A three course luncheon was ser ved to the guest of honor, Mrs. M. E.
