Mrs. Morris Hood accompanied Mrs. Vera Rhodes, Mrs. Geraldine Hood and Mrs. Bertha Alford to Washington, N. C., Saturday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Algie Hood. Enroute home they called on Mr. and Mrs. Waylon Hood of Wallace. Leamon Woodlief made a visi tation to see his ill father Tuesday. Wilson Bailey and Miss Maxine Tucker of Raleigh were callers in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bailey Sunday. K. Richardson, of Wendell Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chamblee and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Brown attended services Sunday night at Clyde’s Chapel Church. Afterwards they spent a few hours in the home of the church’s pastor, Rev. and Mrs. Turner. Mrs. Bertha Hood visited Mrs. Parke McCabe Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. McCabe is recovering from an illness. The R. A.’s, G. A.’s, and Sun beams met Thursday night with their respective leaders, Mesdames Brown, Vaiden Richardson, May belle Eeatmon, Nancy Driver, Er celle Fowler and Herman Creech. Mrs. Modell Parrish was hostess at a Stanley Party Monday night at her home with the proceeds go ing to the WMS treasury. Mrs. Dwight Brown, Mrs. Bran del Narron and Scott Brown visit ed Mrs. Sam Anderson of Eagle Rock Sunday. Mrs. Vera Rhodes dug dogwood plantings from the Morris Hood woods Friday for her lawn. The Zebulon Record WAKEFIELD HIGHLIGHTS I attended my niece’s funeral in Wilmington last Saturday, Mrs. J. T. Williamson, the former Algie Rhodes. Mrs. Fred Hood, Mrs. Ber tha Hood and Mrs. Millard Alford went with me. We went on down to Carolina Beach and spent the weekend and came back Sunday afternoon and stopped at Wallace to see the Sam mie Sampsons, Sophie Hood before her marriage. Her father, W. M. Hood and wife are spending some time with them. He is not any bet ter. I was sorry I missed Sunday School and Church, I feel like I | have lost a great deal when I am j pot here to go. Mr. Harold is still not well. He went to Raleigh for x-rays, we hope is will soon be better. Mr. C. E. Stone is not well at all for the past few days. Mrs. Mary Kemp is improving, we are sure glad to know about it. Mrs. Annie Pace is not so well of late, but Mrs. Frazier is very j much improved. The P. T. A. had a very good | program Monday nite. It was very well attended by our Wakefield Community. We are very proud of Mrs. A. S. Draughan, our fun raising committee for the P. T. A. She is really a go getter when it jis left to her. I saw the Negro Minstrel Friday nite and it was a scream with Sweet Georgia Brown and her song and dance. I would j just liked to have faced her in l that dance. Mrs. Wade said she would start a dance class for me— how many would like to join up? You are no older than you make i yourself feel and they say life be gins at 40 so I hope it will begin for a lot'of us soon. Ha. Ha. The Woman’s Division of the J Farm Bureau met Tuesday nite j with Miss Palmer at the Home Ec. building. We had a very interest j ing meeting in packaging food for the deep freeze, and cooking froz en food for our families. We all sampled it & it was really good. We all enjoyed it immensely. Thanks to the International Harvester Co. for the Demonstration. We had about 30 present, folks you don’t know what you missed by not coming. The Home Demonstration Club met with Mrs. Pearl Massey and Mrs. Lucy Bunn as co-hostess, Wednesday afternoon with 19 pres ent. We had a wonderful meeting. The program was given by Mr. Dixon and Mrs. Hussey of the Sherwin-Williams Co., on Salis bury Street in Raleigh. The pro gram was on Color Styling and Harmony and interior decorating of the home. lam sure if we just had the time and energy we could make things around us very pret ty. We had a new member, Mrs. Melvin Massey. We are always glad to have all who will join us, for anyone that wants to know more about how to do things. Mrs. Joe Tippett gave two book re views, which we enjoyed very much. Mrs. Massey and Mrs. Bunn served sandwiches, cake, nuts, pickles and iced tea. We will meet next time with Mrs. Melvin Massey in her home on the 4th Wednesday in May. We can’t meet at the Club house anymore till we get it covered and repaired. We have SBI.OO raised on the building fund. I urge anyone that reads this to send us a dona tion if it is small, we will appre ciate it just the same. It takes dimes to make dollars and we need several more to get this work done. I am still selling those hand made nylon flowers for the building fund if you want one just see me. I will be glad to fix you up for $1.50. I have turned in $33.00 from flowers sold so far. Well folks, I feel the fishing fever coming on now. It must be 103 so I am going out to get some bait and try them out today. MRS. JANICE DENTON Union Chapel News I‘m sure all who were present last Sunday enjoyed the wonder ful sermon delivered to us by our pastor. Sorry I had to miss it. The Adult Class meeting was held last Thursday night in the home of Mrs. Otha Brannon. There were quite a few present. The program was very good and the guest enjoyed it. Mrs. W. Y. Jones, Mrs. B. B. Richards, and Mrs. J. S. Mitchell visited in the home of Rev. and Mrs. John F. Parker in Zebulon last week. Mrs. Parker is still confined to her bed. She doesn’t know when she will be able to do all her housework. We are hoping it will be soon. Mrs. Park er’s mother was with her. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Denton, Mrs. Bill Denton, Jr., were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Vance Lee Denton on Sunday. It was a birth day dinner honoring little Dwight Denton, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Denton. Dwight was four years old Saturday, April 19th. Mr. and Mrs. Nevelt Maiden and son and Mr. Gene Fuller of Sel ma visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ju lian Mitchell last Sunday morn ing. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Horton and Ted, Mr. and Mrs. Fernie Richards and children of Wakefield and Mr. Sterling Mitchell v*isited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Buck Rich ards last Sunday. Mr. Bennie Mitchell injured his foot last week with a piece of stick that stuck in his foot just before a baseball practice at the school house. He reports it is still sore, but healing. Miss Helen Faye Fuller celebrat ed her 13th birthday last Monday. This is a free country, so go to the church of your choice Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Mitchell visited with Mr. and Mrs. Buck Richards Tuesday night.
