The Banner houses are located just outside the limits of the Town on the old Raleigh-Wilson Road. Some of the highest averages on the local market have been made at the Banners. Star Warehouses J. S. Bernard and Curtis Walk er operate the Star Warehouses No. 1 and No. 2 which are located on the corper of Third Street and Cypress Street. The Star No. 1 Is the oldest warehouse on the Wendell Market. These two experienced ware housemen have done a great deal to build the local market to its present proportions, and the far mers like to sell their tobacco on the floors of these houses because they knew Bernard and Walker know how to get the highest price for a pile of tobacco. Robert Coley, floor manager for the Star Warehouses, is a fixture on the Wendell market.
