SEEN AND HEARD Around & About the Town One more advantage to the pav ed sidewalks in front of homes like mine is that it means much less lawn to mow. Such snide statements are sure to come. • Once upon a time the town of ficials said that if folks failed to clean up their lots, the town would have it done and bill the property owner. I have waited pa tiently all summer for the weeds to be cut in the back of my house. It looks like I’ll have to do it my self, worse luck. • We are looking for a volunteer for our department of research. We want to know how many con secutive kisses can a couple ex change before the lip muscles are exhausted. A New Yorker once wagered a large sum he could kiss Anna Held 200 times without stop ping. After 152 kisses he quit com pletely exhausted and paid off the bet. How many times do our male readers think they could conse cutively kiss Ava Garner, Hedy Lamar, or—ah—Marilyn Monroe? • Speaking of love letters what better system could be found than to copy the Indian use of smoke signals? After hours and hours of tests, he was called in for a re port. “We’ve never had but one other person,” Potter was told, “who rated so high in so many dif ferent fields.” “Is that good?” Potter asked. “We don’t know,” was the an swer. "That man turned out to be a drunkard.” • Well, starting this week we’re going to start ifloving machinery around agan, to make room for more equipment. It was not founded on that principle, but the whole truth. The Honorable Josephus Daniels did not reach his prestige, and his pre-eminence on misinforma tion to the public. 1 will not state my politics, but I am a great admirer of General Dwight D. Eisenhower, and mis quotations are misinforming be cause all people do not read. Quote: “If security is what you want you may go to jail.” What he (General Eisenhower) really said is: “If security is what you want you can So to jail. If the Govern ment takes all the initiative from those it governs, and government ownership, it leaves the people without any desire or ambition. Jail offers food, clothes, and shel ter.
