Carter Wil liams, Raleigh architect, who was engaged by the group Debnam, Johnson Services Sunday Funeral services were held at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon at Social Plains Baptist Church for Mrs. Ruby Batchelor Debnam, 42, who died in a Wilson hospital Fri day night, conducted by the Rev. A. D. Parrish. Burial was in the church cemetery. Surviving Mrs. Debnam are her husband, W. M. Debnam, of Mid dlesex, Route 2; three sons, Sgt. Walter C. Debnam, stationed in Japan; Harold Glenn and Bruce of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Ivan Jones of Zebulon, Route 2, and Eva Glynn, Elsie Faye and Connie Sue, all of the home; two brothers, R. B. and M. T. Batch elor of Middlesex; two sisters, Mrs. Percy Batts of Raleigh and Mildred Lapez of England; and one grandchild. Mrs. B. C. Johnson Funeral services for Mrs. B. C. Johnson, 71, of Zebulon, Route 2, who died at her home Friday night following a long illness, were held from the home at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, with her pastor, the Rev. M. A. Massey, Rt. 2, Zebulon, is completing his AF basic airmen indoctrination course at Lackland Air Force Base, the “Gateway to the Air Force.” Lackland situated near San An tonio, Texas, is the world’s larg est air force base, site of Air Force basic training, for men and wo men. headnuarters of the Human Resource Research Center, and the Air Force’s OCS. His basic training is preparing him for entrance into Air Force technical training and for assign ment ’n rr ' o c’' , liz oJ w°rk. Gill’s Recorder’s Court last week. No new cases were on the docket, and farmers, busy after the weekend rain, requested cases involving them be continued until a later session. Traffic cases made up all but one of those tried. The exception was the charge against Mrs. Jodie Brewer, who was found guilty of disturbing the peace of R. B. Al ford’s home by cursing and acting in a disorderly manner. She receiv ed a sentence of 30 days suspend ed on payment of the costs. Robert Lee Spivey was found guilty of operating his automobile i with improper muffler and lights. He was sentenced to 60 days sus pended on payment of $75 fine and costs. Joe Bryant Williams of Route 3 was fined S6O and costs for speed ing and passing on a hill. Other Traffic Cases Julius Perry of Wendell was fin ed S2O and costs for operating a vehicle to the left of the center line. | Ervin Hall Hodee was sentenc ed to six months when convicted of careless and reckless driving and being involved in an accident resulting in personal iniury. The sentence was held open for further order. (See COURT, Page 3) can be sub-divided by folding doors. No construction date has been set by the building committee, which in cludes H. C. Rains Cause Crop Loss Torrential rains, accompanying a severe 3-hour electrical storm after midnight Friday night, re sulted in heavy crop damage, as countless rows of tobacco, corn, and cotton were washed away. Some local fields were nothing but sand and mud in their low corners after the deluge, estimated here at from 3 to 5 inches. At least one farm building, a barn at the Winston Perrys home, 1 was destroyed by a fire set by ! lightning; only the mules were i reported saved from the bam. Theo. Davis Sons, Publishers Little River rose rapidly after the rain, with a rise of about 7 feet noted at the highway bridge on the Zebulon-Hephzibah road. The river level had dropped about a foot by noon Sunday, despite another heavy rain late Saturday afternoon. James Brown, local highway engineer, reported two roads as closed from bridges being out— the Knightdale-Eacle Rock and Knightdale - Wake Cross Roads sections. Unpaved roads suffered heavy washing in this area.
