So far fifteen girls have been lined up to play. We selected for our coach, Crafton Hudson, and for our captain, Ann Upchurch. This summer we have asked for donations from our friends and from the merchants here in town, to help us buy shirts and equip ment for our team. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for cooperating with us in the curable stage. The earlier tuberculosis is found, the better chances are for a cure. Everyone, regardless of race, creed, color, or financial status, should be X-rayed. The X-rays are made without a person having to undress. A confidential report is made to the person X-rayed on the find ings resulting from the examina tion. The proposed commun ity building will be constructed according to initial plans submit ted by Carter Williams, Raleigh architect, those at the meeting de cided. Acting on the decision, a three man finance committee was ap pointed to make plans for raising money for the construction of the community building. Serving on the finance committee are C. V. Whitley, R. Vance Brown, and H. C. Wade, who is also chairman of the community building project. The achitect’s drawing of the building was published in the Zeb ulon Record for Tuesday, June 15, and included the floor plan and front elevation. Representatives will be sent to meetings of civic and fraternal groups in the community urging wholehearted support for the pro ject. The speakers will tell of the value of the building for everyone. Objections Answered Some objections to the proposed community building brought up at the meeting Friday night includ ed the lack of a separate room for each organization in Zebulon and the possibility of the new National Guard armory being used for a community meeting place. These objections were answered by stating the cost of a building having rooms for the various clubs, Scout troops, and other organiza tions. It was pointed out also that the armory will have only the large assembly room (60x90 feet) avail able for public meetings, and that the cost of heating and lighting this large area for smaller meet ings may prove prohibitive.
