Class Holds Monthly Meeting With Mrs. Spann Mrs. Mamie Bunn The Lela Alford Stallings class of our Sunday School held their regular monthly meeting with Mrs. Calvin Spann last week with 10 members present. Chief and Mrs. Rudy Averitt and children of Norfolk, Va., spent the weekend with Mrs. Averitt’s parents, the Clyde Pearces. Mr. and Mrs. John Jackson of Charlottesville, Va., are visiting her parents, the Claude Lewises this week. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bunn and family have returned from West ern North Carolina where they have been vacationing along the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway. While there they saw the drama, “Unto These Hills.’’ Mrs. Zollie Alford and Mr. Cloyce Alford spent the weekend in Newport News, Va., with *he David Battens. Mrs. Leroy Eddy and baby of Washingotn, D. C., are visiting her parents, the Ivon Phillips, this week. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Williams and Mr. Wiley Williams of Rich mond, Va., spent the weekend here with Mrs. Rachel Brantley. Mrs. Kenneth Cone is in Frank lin County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Mrs. Milton Griffins and chil dren of Williamston visited her parents, the Ivon Phillips, last Sunday. Mrs. Clyde Pearce and Mrs. Ru dy Averitt visited Miss Ora Al ford in Raleigh last Saturday. Mr. Clifton Marsh and Miss An na Beryl Pearce spent the week end in Norfolk, Va., with relatives. S-Sgt. Aubrey Bullock has re turned to Mobile, Ala., after visit ing relatives here for a week. Mrs. Calvin Spann and daugh ters have been spending a few days the past week in Fort Bragg with her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Carl McDuffie % and son of Raleigh visited her parents, the Berry Williams, last Sunday. To Visit Washington Bennett Utley of Kinston, son of the former Addie Ellis Win stead and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Winstead, will be one of North Carolina’s two represen tatives at Boys’ Nation, sponsored annually by the American Legion in Washington, D. C. During the week of July 24 to July 30 he will visit many points of interest in Washington and will “learn by doing” the organization and functions of the federal gov ernment. Our Superintendent and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Faison of Wendell announ/ce the birth of a son, Charles Thomas, July 14. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday night of this week Prayer Service was held at our church (Hephzi bah) for rain with a large crowd each night. Mr. Jessie Smar of Columbia, S. C., is spending a few weeks with his aunt, Mrs. Varina Hor ton. Visitors at Mr. T. P. Baker’s over the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Baker, Jr., and children of West Palm Beach. Florida, and Mr. and Mrs. Mac D. Kirkendall of Silver Springs, Maryland. Mr. Claude Zimmerman and children of Fayetteville visited the J. T. Gays Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Edd Whitaker and children of Princeton spent Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Al ford. Mr. Addie Whitaker return ed with them to spend a while. Mrs. Oris Horton called to see her uncle, Mr. Ivon Anderson of Eagle Rock, who is ill. Mr, and Mrs. Ivon Weathers of Wendell called at the R. C. Alfords Sunday night. B. grandchildren enjoyed an ice cream supper at the home of Mr. Carter Monday night. We are sorry to hear Mr. Her man Faucett is ill in Rex Hospital. Also Mrs. Vivian (Wood) Perry is in Rex. Both have had operations. Mr. L. C. Liles and Mr. T. Y. Puryear are improving slowly. Mrs. H. O. Hinnant is not im proving much in Duke Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carter and Mr. Lexton Puryear of Raleigh and Mrs. F. V. Hood and daugh ter were visitors at Mr. T. Y. Puryear’s Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bracey of Portsmouth, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. John Carter and children of Halifax spent a few days recently with the J. B. Carters. Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Moody and children took supper Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Bertie Carter. Miss Shirley Ricker of Halifax spent a few days with Miss Meri am Starnes recently. Mr. Maynard Puryear and little son, Donald, of Youngsville, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carter of Raleigh, and Mr. and Mrs. L. H.
