Friday, July 31, 1953 BETHANY Much Happiness Is Wished Newly-Weds Os Our Community j Mrs. Mabel Williford Wedding bells rang for Miss Lillian Ann Eddins of Neuse and Mr. Roscoe Perry, Jr., who were married last Saturday. Miss Ed dins is the daughter of Mr .and Mrs. Lennie Eddins of Neuse. Mr. Perry is the son of Mr. Roscoe Per ry and the late Mrs. Ruby Perry. We extend to them congratulations and wish them a happy married life. We had the same members pres ent for Sunday School. We had last week 121. Some came out for the evening service who were absent Sunday morning. Our pastor is improving with his mes sage. You should come out and hear him. The Scarboro reunion was held at Lake Mirl last Sunday. Mrs. Etta Robertson and Mr. Dewey Williford have been sick. We are glad Mrs. George Watson, Mrs. Luther Watkins and Mrs. Melvin Ray are improving. Mrs. Lennie Broughton is also on the sick list. Mr. Bob Young and Mr. Waylon Creech went on a fishing trip last weekend. I know everyone was happy to learn of the truce being signed and fighting to cease in Korea and hope that we will soon have peace again. Mrs. W. H. Coleman of Hopewell, Va., visited Mrs. Roxie Jones last weekend. Mrs. Willie Jones visited rela tives, Mrs. Nellie Strickland and Mrs. Emma Duke at Bunn last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. William Lamkin, Jr., and baby of Silver Springs, Md., visited Mr. and Mrs. J. Paul Robertson last week. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Wilkinson of Washington, D. C., announced the birth of a daughter on July 25. Mrs. Wilkinson is the former El oise Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Z. C. Bissette of Bailey were dinner guests at Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Scarboro’s Sun day. Miss Charlie Ann Merritt of Rolesville spent the weekend with Miss Barbara Ann Jones. Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Cox’s Sunday guests were to be Mr. and Mrs. Whitfield, Miss Clara York and Lucille Eakes of Durham and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Watkins of Rocking ham. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nugent and Mr. and Mrs. Romie Green of Ra leigh were guests at Mrs. T. M. Watson’s Sunday. Sandra and I visited Mrs. Eddie and Virginia Dean Saturday after noon. On our return home, hus band and boys and Mr. & Mrs. E. E. Williford were preparing for a fish fry. If I had stayed away thirty minutes longer I believe things would have been all set to eat, but I came just in time to give the finishing touch before frying. We all enjoyed the eat. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Watson of Clayton spent the weekend with the George Watsons. The Lennie Willifords called at the Marvin Scarboros last Thurs- j day evening. Mrs. Ira Dean and Mrs. Eddie Dean visited Mrs. Luther Watkins I Friday night. Mr. Tommy Watson visited Mr. j Billy Royce Liles near Knightdale Sunday. Joint baptismal services were held for 23 candidates of Pilot, Pine Ridge, and Poplar Springs churches last Sunday night at 7:45 at the Pilot Baptist Church. Miss Barbara Denton of Raleigh visited her parents, the Bervon Dentons last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pearce and Larry of Kinston spent the week end with his mother, Mrs. Geneva Pearce. Mr. and Mrs. William Poole and son, Billy have returned to their home in Chester, Pa., after spend ing a few days with their parents, the Lennie Pooles.
