Friday, August 19, 1955 Wakefield Personal Items Mrs. Vera B. Rhodes We had 101 present last Sunday at Sunday School. A few more came in for church service. Rev. Vernon Brooks, Rev. C. C. Wheeler, the Building Committee, Deacons and trustees led the con gregation to the new building cer emony. Various ones of the group participated. My mother, Mrs. Alice Hood, and Mrs. Mamie Kim bell also broke ground. They are charter members of the church. If any one would like to make a donation on the new church build ing please send it to the Wakefield Baptist Church in care Mrs. Vera Rhodes, Route 4, Zebulon, and I will see that it gets to the building fund. CHEVROLET CO. - zewon The W. M. U. met with Mrs. Ju lia Ingram with Mrs. Moore Ho cutt as cohostess last Monday night. We had a wonderful pro gram on Prohibition and the dam age alcoholic beverages is doing to the people of our nation. The hostess served refreshments which all enjoyed. Mr. Lionel Bunn is back home and improving. Mrs. Lucy Bunn is at the home i of her son, Harold, in Wakefield. Mesdames S. H. Hoyle, Vera Rhodes and Clellie Liles took Mrs. Lucy Bunn a sunshine basket Mon day from the Home Demonstration Club members. We were glad to have Mrs. D. S. Joyner and Alma at church last Sunday. The Zebulon Record The Frank Kannon family have moved to their new home in Zebu lon. Sympathy goes to the family of Mr. Vernon Mitchell in the loss of of husband and father. Mr. and Mrs. Josh Eddins and daughter of Spring Hope and Mrs. Andy Pavolsky and children and her mother, Mrs. Maggie King of Raleigh were visitors of Mrs. Hu bert Eddins and Mr. Bernice Ed dins Sunday. Mrs. Vera Rhodes visited Mrs. Addie Hunter and Mr. W. E. Jones Sunday. They both have had brok en hips and are shut in. They are improving. Mr. and Mrs. Garrison are vis iting their niece, Mrs. Roger Bunn. The Home Demonstration Club will meet at the clubhouse at its regular meeting August 24, at 3:00. All are urged to come. I will be the hostess. Mrs. Oditia Taylor, agent, will give the program. Just finished setting up tobacco Tuesday p.m. that Connie blew down and here came Diane and laid it down the same night. It is disheartening to us farmers. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Whitaker took off last Thursday ahead of Connie to New Jersey. They made the trip in 13 hours and beat the hurricane. TABERNACLE NEWS Mrs. Polly Fuller Sunday School attendance last Sunday was 174. Sunday morning’s preaching ser vice will be postponed until the next Sunday a.m., but there will be a Sunday night service on the fourth Sunday as usual. This is the new arrangement of the ser vices for next year starting now on trial before a definite plan is made. Mrs. Larry Richardson taught the young ladies Sunday School class Sunday. Mr. Ernest Cooke is sick. Kenneth Alford who is still in Duke Hospital is some better. Mr. Ruffin Richardson, Jr. lost a tobacco barn Saturday night by fire. The Zebulon fire truck was prompt in coming. Mrs. Peggy Hill of Burlington spent the weekend with the H. B. Alfords and her children, Wendey and Roland, Jr. Wendy Hill is suffering with complications from an infected tooth. Mrs. Alton Alford and Mrs. Val ton Alford of Wendell visited Mrs. Carlton Alford Saturday night. Five
