United Fund Campaign
Meets Good Response
The Zebulon United Fund cam
paign is progressing very satis
factorily, Aaron Lowery reported
yesterday. However, there were
no figures that could be given on
the drive that is being waged so
successfully by the hard working
solicitors.
Mr. Lowery said that he again
wanted to impress the people of
the value of the drive and urged
all to support the drive whole
heartedly.
He also said that there will be
a Fund meeting next week for the
purpose of reviewing the drive.
The hour and place for this meet

The Rev. Troy Barrett, pastor
of the Zebulon Methodist Church,
was the principal speaker last Sat

College alumni banquet. The Rev.
Barrett is an alumnus of the col

Following the alumni dinner
held in the college dining hall,
there was the presentation of the
portrait of the late president of
the institution, Dr. Walter Patten.
This portrait was a gift to the col
lege from the alumni association.
The Rev. Barrett paid a tribute
to the late president of the col
lege, who served the institution
faithfully from 1939 until his
death in 1947. He also cited some
of the many contributions Dr. Pat
ten made to the college while he
was its head.
Ed Robinson presented the por
trait to the Patten family in behalf
of the alumni association. The
