Edward Dean of Patuxent River, Md., spent the weekend with his parents, the Ira Deans. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Watkins and son of Raleigh visited the Dew ey Rays Saturday p.m. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs G. H. Cox Sunday were Mr. ane Mrs. Charles Smith and son Christopher, of New York, the Jim Watkins and son and the Dur ward Hodge family, all of Raleigh. Calling after dinner were Mrs. Pattie Rue Williams and Linda Carol Williams of Rolesville, the Lemuel Lucys of Blackstone, Va., S. T. Davis and the Dewey Rays. Mrs. Joe Carter of Raleigh and Mrs. F. V. Hood of Zebulon called on the Lennie Willifords Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Lucy of Blackstone, Va., visited S. T. Da vis at the Dewey Rays Sunday. Mrs. Bill Davis visited Mrs. Len nie Williford Thursday night. Mrs. Ollie Young visited her mother, Mrs. Lester Watkins, last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Connell and Dennis visited Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Frederick at Garner Sunday afternoon. The A. G. Stells of Raleigh were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Flet cher Stell Sunday. Edward Williford who is with the 30th Inf. Division spent last j weekend at Fort Bragg. Joe Carter of Raleigh visited the Lennie Willifords Tuesday. Mrs. Dorsey Williford visited Mr. and Mrs. P. P. Perry Saturday night. A council meeting was held in the church Sunday afternoon. Af ter the meeting adjourned the quartet sang several songs. Mrs. Bill Arnold and Linda of New York visited the Dorsey Wil lifords Saturday afternoon. Bill Davis had a real surprise last Saturday. He thought his wife was just driving him to Raleigh for a short time. After calling at a place or two they drove to his daughter’s, Mrs. Willard Griffin. Wakefield News Mrs. Vera B. Dona Fay, Linda Kay and Fran ces Kimball, all had their tonsils out last week. Miss Jean Kimball has been sick. Mrs. Hilliard Smith is out again. Joe Cunningham is better. Electric Mate Donald Baker of Orange, Texas, and Edgar Wayne Bobbitt of Pensacola, Fla., are home on a two week’s leave. Roger Baker is home from Ber muda. Eugene Privette has been called on a job in Newport News, Va. He left Sunday. Mrs. Vera Rhodes spent a few days in Boonville, N. C., with her brother, E. E. Hood and family. Mr. and Mrs. Hood were installed as worthy matron and worthy pa tron of the Elkin Chapter of the Eastern Star. Edwards gave Nellie a gavel made from a limb of the old oak tree that stood in the yard at our old home more than 150( years. Hazel blew it down. Mrs. Clellie Liles is sick. Mrs. Jesse Bissette was brought home from Rex Hospital Monday. Mrs. Bettie Bolton is in Rex Hospital. She was operated on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. P. P. Pace spent the weekend with the Harold Pip pins. r Tabernacle News Mrs. Polly Fuller The revival services held by the Rev. Johnny Caldwell of Hopkins came to a close Saturday night and Pastor Dale Davis brought the Sunday night message. The W. M. S. Intercessory Pray er League met Thursday night at 8:00 with Mrs. Dessie Wood in Wendell. Attendance Sunday was 238 at Sunday School. Now enrolled in Sunday School is 303. Mrs. Mary Greene went to Dur ham Sunday for a visit with her son, Leon Driver and family. Mrs. Maude Richardson entered Mary Elizabeth Hospital Sunday for a minor operation which was performed Monday. Mrs. J. Ray Nowell visited Mrs. Rupert Harris and Mrs. Ernest Brannon on Monday. Tuesday she visited Mrs. Leacy Batten and Mrs. W. L. Turner. Many from this section visited the bedside of Mrs. Eula Mae Reeves of the Bethany community near Kenly for prayer. She has been confined to her bed /or some time with an incurable disease. She is the sister of Mrs. Dessie Wood.
