Mrs. Franklin Jones Heads Jr. Woman's Club
Mrs. i ranKim koss Jones, newly
installed president of the Zebulon
Junior Woman's Club, hails from
Henderson.
She is the oldest daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. C. B. White. Her father
is a druggist with the Southside

has a younger sister, Nancy.
Following graduation from Hen
derson High School in 1946, Mrs.
Jones enrolled in Salem College,
Winston-Salem.
“I had every intention of be
coming a teacher,” she said. “But
I abandoned that idea after two
years at Salem,” she laughed.
Leaving college, she came back
to Henderson and matriculated in
Henderson Business School. Here
she learned the fundamentals of
stenographic work, majoring in the
field of typewriting and shorthand.
“My typewrtiing was very good.”
she said. “I could easily do 65
words-per-minute. In my short
hand I would just say I was me
dium.”
After graduating from busi
ness college she landed a job with
a legal nrm, becoming the pri
vate secretary-stenographer for
attorney Jasper B. Hicks, promi
nent Henderson lawyer.
Mrs. Jones said that a legal sec

testing positions at all. There is
always something new and differ
ent. It never gets dull or rou
tine as so many jobs do.
In December of 1949 she mar
ried Franklin Ross Jones, a native
of Hickory. Jones was the principal
of Henderson City High School.
They were married in the First
Baptist Church. To this union
have been born two sons, Ross,
3 V2, who favors his mother, and
Morty, 2, who resembles his dad.
“These two keep me pretty
busy,” Mrs. Jones said, referring
to her children.
Mrs. Jones said she couldn’t
think of any hobby she has. She
enjoys homemaking and helping
her husband with his work. Oft
times, she does typing and other
office duties for her husband when
he needs help.
She especially enjoys cooking,
and considers chocolate fudge cake
to be her best culinary master
piece.
