Pearces Happenings Mrs. Ivon Pearce Mrs. Melvin Mullen and boys of Bunn visited her parents, the Ivey Pearces, Sunday evening. Mrs. Grady Currin and Andy visited Mrs. Billy Yeargin Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Pearce and Rhonda of Bunn had supper with his parents, the Ivon Pearces Sun day night. The Young Men’s Class enter tained their teacher and wife, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Pearce and their girl friends at a cake and ice cream supper at the church Sun day evening. The Rev. and Mrs. Warren Kerr and boys were also guests. The Rev. Warren Kerr delivered the home coming sermon at New Hope Christian Church Sunday. Mrs. L. D. Perry and Mrs. Ivon Pearce visited Mrs. Perry’s sister, the Bonnie Perrys, of Hopkins Chapel Sunday evening. Sunday visitors of the K. W. Bakers were the Nick Zurcettes of Raleigh, Mrs. Ervin Rogers of Zeb u'lon, Mrs. Thomas Timberlake, Mrs. L. D. Perry and Mrs. Ivon Pearce. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Pearce vis ited her parents, the William Honeycutts, of Wakefield recently. L. D. Perry went to Franklin Memorial Hospital Monday for x rays.' The B. W. C. met last week in the home of Mrs. Wilburn Gay. Weekend guests of the Warren Kerrs were Mrs. Kerr’s sister and her husband of Durham. Mrs. Hal Perry of Zebulon spent the weekend with her husband’s parents, the *T. W. Perry’s, Sr. The family of Shelton Pearce has our deepest sympathy due to his recent passing. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ray and sons of Auburn recently visited her sister, the P. G. Pearces. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Pearce and Ken of Clayton and Mr. and Mrs. LaFayette Johnson and Donna Fay, had dinner with the Pettigrew Pearces Sunday. Those visiting the L. D. Mrs. Walter Smith of Williams burg, Va., spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Adna Pearce. Garry Baker is spending a cou pie of weeks with his mother, Mrs. Ernestine Pearce, at Durham. Several of our people attended the funeral of Shelton Pearce at the Bunn Baptist Church last Thursday. The Home Demonstration Club met last Thursday evening in the school lunch room with Mrs. J. W. Perry, Jr. as hostess. Mrs. C. L. Perry gave the devotional. Red Cross to Conduct Swim Classes Beginning June 4 the Red Cross will conduct a Learn to Swim Pro gram at Lake Glad. This program will last for three weeks, with classes from 1:30 to 3:30 the first and second weeks, and 9:30 to 11: 30 the third week. This program, similar to the one held last summer, is open to chil dren at least eight years old. Charles Hester, Zebulon recrea tional director, said the Wakelon activity bus will be available for the children who attend from Zeb ulon. Miss Gayle Privettc, Red Cross Water Safety Supervisor, is direct ing the program, which is being co ordinated with the Zebulon and Wendell summer recreational pro gram. i Teachers for the three weeks' j program will have a training per j iod Monday morning beginning at 9 o’clock. Farmers Market Now Open The Raleigh Farmers Market has a retail shed that is opening up for farmers on Saturdays at the pres ent time, according to Jim Gra ham, Manager of the Market. He stated that when local pi oduce was more in season, this shed could be opened every day. Mr. Graham reported that the shed was for retailing and that any farmers interested in selling some of his or his neighbors could rent the stalls by the day or by the month and he also welcomes any people who would like to come in and buy fresh produce. G. W. Miller, Jr., County Agent states that he thinks that the mar ket has the facilities to meet every person's needs from the housewife to the wholesale buyer and seller and that all farmers were welcome to visit this facility and inquire as to where they can fit into the market picture. Roland Neal, whose wife, Helen, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Neal, live on Route 1, Zebu Ion, recently completed an annual training test with his battalion on the Island of Hawaii. Neal’s unit, the 2d Battalion of the 25th Infantry Division’s 35th Regiment, used the combat tech niques it learned during the year. The Island of Hawaii is 200 miles south of the 25th’s regular station at Schofield Barracks on Oahu. Neal is assigned to the battalion’s Company F. He entered the Army in December, 1954, and completed basic training at Fort Jackson. S.
