Mrs. Wilbur Debnam and Mrs.
Thurman Murray were hostesses
to the Bridgettes Bridge Club and
the husbands at the home of Mrs.
Murray on Wednesday night, Dec.
11.
Christmas arrangements were
used throughout the house and
soft carol music played during the
evening.
As the guests arrived they were
served from the buffet a very de
licious Christmas dinner by can
dlelight. Burning tapers were used
on the auxiliary tables.
Playing three progressions were
Mr. and Mrs. George Morgan,
Mr. and Mrs. Barrie Davis, Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Hales, Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Hawkins, Mrs. Frank Mas
sey, Mrs. Steve Blackley, Mrs.
John Hicks, Wilbur Debnam and
Thurman Murray.
High score prize was awarded to
Mr. Hawkins, with second high
and low going to Mrs. Blackley
and Mr. Morgan, respectively.
After bridge the guests played
bingo and prizes were presented
to the winners of this game.
Refreshments of coffee and
lemon cake were served after
Dlav.
Victory
When Mrs. A. S. Hinton enter
tained the Victory Bridge Club
recently, gifts were given to every
member present.
The party was held in the Hinton
residence on East Horton Street,
and the Yuletide theme was
carried out by the hostess.
The club members present were
Mrs. Julian Horton, Mrs. Wilbur
Debnam, Mrs. Randolph Hendricks,
Mrs. Rodney McNabb, Mrs. Bob
Sawyer, Mrs. Willard Gill, Mrs.
Donald Stallings and Mrs. Vance
Brown.
Mrs. Debnam, winner of high
score, took her choice of the gifts,
as did Mrs. Stallings, who won
low score.
After the three progressions, the
hostess served egg nog pie, chicken
salad sandwich, nuts and coffee.
Christmas candy was on each table
during play.
Wednesday
Afternoon Club
Mrs. W. C. Campen entertained
the Wednesday Afternoon Club
and guests at her home on Gannon
Avenue last week. The four tables
were in progression in the living
room and library.
Christmas decorations were used
throughout the playing rooms for
the occasion.
Club members present were Mrs.
G. S. Barbee, Mrs. J. K. Barrow,
Miss Glenda Eddins, a student at
Meredith College, has been chosen
for listing in “Who’s Who in
American Colleges and Univer
sities.” She is one of ten so honor
ed from the 647-member student
body, all selected on a basis of
scholarship, leadership, extra
curricular activity and citizenship.
Miss Eddins, the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. C. B. Eddins, Jr., of
Claxton, Ga., and the grand
daughter of C. B. Eddins, Sr., of
Zebulon, serves this years as a
member of Kappa Nu Sigma,
honorary scholastic society, main
tains a “Dean’s List” grade stand
ard, is a member of the Student
Government Association Council,
and of Tomorrow’s Business Wom
en.
She carries a major in business,
and has served on the Student
Goverment- Association Council
both as a sophomore representa
tive and as treasurer. She also
was chosen as a freshman counsel
lor; and this year was appointed
chief counsellor.

HONORED
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Winstead
were the guests of honor at a
dinner party Saturday night in
Raleigh. The occasion given by
two sons and two daughters was
held in celebration of the couple’s
57th wedding anniversary.
Besides the honored guests were
Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Lowery, of
Zebulon, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Wood of
Enfield, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Win
stead of Raleigh and Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Winstead of Durham.
Mrs. Winstead, the former
Addie Dew of Wilson, was pre
sented an orchid corsage prior to
the dinner party. The couple also
received a variety of gifts.
