Bob Horton of Cincinnati flies to
Richmond Thursday (today) for a
business meeting. From Richmond
he will come to Zebulon for a visit
with his sister, Mrs. Doris Privette,
and mother, Mrs. John Horton, who is
at a rest home in Wake Forest.

“It’s a big challenge, and there
is a lot to learn.”
That’s what Ann Hopkins said since
she has become affiliated with the
National Institute of Health in
Bethesda, Md. Miss Hopkins began
work with the hospital the first of
the year.
Right now Nurse Hopkins is
associated with the hospital’s cancer
clinic.
“Oh, yes, it’s interesting, but a big
challenge and a lot to learn,” she
said.
She expects to be with the hospital
for approximately a year for this
graduate study. She graduated from
the University of North Carolina
Medical School of Nursing in June.

at ECC, spent the weekend here
with her grandmother, Mrs. M. B.
Chamblee.

Houseguests of Mrs. Chamblee for
the weekend were her nephew and
his family, Lt. and Mrs. Frederick
Josey and son of Norfolk.

Mrs. Milton Barber of Lexington,
the former Margaret Brown of Zebu
Ion, is recuperating at. her home from
recent brain tumor surgery. About
46 years old, Mrs. Barber underwent
the delicate operation at Baptist Hos
pital in Winston-Salem. She was
stricken the latter part of October.
She is beginning to learn how to
talk and walk again. There are
nurses around the clock for her.

Mrs. John Liles left Tuesday for
her home in Sanford after visiting
her mother, Mrs. Millard Chamblee.
Remember Christmas Day here?
Every branch and twig sheathed in
sleet. But in Orlando, Fla., it was
just right.
Mr. and Mrs. Foster Finch were
in Orlando during the Christmas holi
days visiting their son and his family,
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Finch.
“The weather was just perfect,”
Mrs. Finch said. “In fact, we turned
on the air conditioning on Christmas
Day.”
Dave and Ginny and their children
are now residing in their new colonial
style home. All are doing very nicely.
Mr. and Mrs. Finch left December
15 and returned January 3.
Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Hinton spent
the weekend in Roanoke Rapids with
Mrs. McRae Faison.

Coressa Chamblee won’t be going
to Washington to see the Mona Lisa.
When she visited Paris several sum
mers ago, Mrs. Chamblee went to the
Louvre and feasted her eyes on the
famous painting all she wanted to.

Mrs. Foster Finch and Mrs. Millard
Chamblee motored to Burlington last
week for a visit with Mrs. Chamblee’s
granddaughter and family, Mr. and
Mrs. John Allen Knight. t
Another milestone was passed by
Philip Massey on November 5. On
that date he celebrated his 75th birth
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kimball cele
brated their 25th wedding anniversary
Saturday, January 5. The couple
were entertained at a dinner party in
Raleigh.
Mr. and Mrs. T. Y. Newton of
Fayetteville were the guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Falc Bunn Sunday. Mrs.
Bunn and Mr. Newton are sister and
brother.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hilliard spent
Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs.
Dan Hilliard and family of Sanford.

Roney Narron, a patient at the
Veteran’s Hospital in Durham since
September 1 after suffering severe
bums in a fire at his home, is im
proving. He had to have the am
putation of one finger from the fire
accident and must under go another
finger amputation and the removal
of a knee cap at a future date.

Mrs. Ben Thomas and Mrs. Arm
strong Cannady attended a coffee
hour for the Mothers’ March of Dimes
chairmen Tuesday at 10 o’clock at the
Governor’s Mansion. They were
among several others from across the
state at the Mansion at the request
of Governor and Mrs. Terry Sanford.
However the Governor and his First
Lady were not present for the oc
casion. Coffee, open face tomato
sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches,
cheese straws, and cake was served
The cake was four-tiered and had
25 written on it, it being the 23th
birthday of the March of Dimes cam
paign.

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Seago are
advertising their house for sale.
Rumor is that they plan to move to
Raleigh. He is a consultant engineer
with the State and she is a member
of the Wakelon High School faculty.
