WILLIAM C. FAISON
William Clifton Faison, 59, died
Sunday at Rex Hospital. A life
long resident of Wendell, he at
tended Wendell High School and
the University of North Carolina,
was employed by the Wake Coun
ty Alcoholic Beverage Control
Board for 23 years, was a 32nd
degree Mason, and a member of
the Wendell Lodge No. 565.
Funeral services were held Mon
day at 3 p.m. from the Wendell
Baptist Church by his pastor, the
Rev. W. H. Vinson, Jr., and the
Rev. Herbert Maynard of Central
Baptist Church. Burial was in
Greenmount Cemetery with Ma
sonic rates.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Jessamine Fleming; one
son, Billy of Raleigh; his mother,
Mrs. W. D. Faison of Wendell;
four sisters, Mrs. Ora Mae Vaughn
of Durham, Mrs. Lois Hollifleld
and Laura Faison of Wendell, Mrs.
Mavis Faulkner of Henderson;
three brothers, McGruda of Wen
i dell, Willard of Raleigh, John of
Rockingham; and one grandchild.

James Pink Tart, 74, died at his
home on Rt. 3, Clinton, Tuesday
morning. He was a retired farmer
I of Hall Township and a member
of Williams Chapel Church. Fu
| neral services were conducted at
the chapel of Royal Funeral Home
, Wednesday at 3 p.m. by the Rev.
Z. V. Holder. Interment followed
in Grandview Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lola

Mrs. Mary Corbett
Dies Sunday
Funeral rites were held Tues
day afternoon at 3 o’clock at Hales
Chapel Baptist Church for Mrs.
Mary Sherron Corbett. Mrs. Cor
bett, 86, died Sunday at Wake
Memorial Hospital after suffering
a heart attack Tuesday, February
15.
She was the widow of Joseph
Corbett, who preceded her in
death in 1955. After the death
of her husband she resided with
a daughter in the Antioch commu
nity of Johnston County.
She was a member of Friendship
Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, J. M.,
Esker J., and S. Zeb of Zebulon;
six daughters, Mrs. Cola Hintcn of
Middlesex, Mrs. Katie Vann of
Wilson, Mrs. Lottie Edwards of
Selma, Mrs. Lector Creech of Zeb
ulon, Mrs. Repsie Boyette of Wen
dell and Mrs. Cramma Creech of
Middlesex; one sister, Mrs. Nannie
Allen of Raleigh; 30 grandchildren;
51 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-gtandchild.
Her grandsons served as pall
bearers. They were Donald Cor
bett, Carson Corbett, Bill Creech,
Ellie Hugh Creech, Jerry Boyette
and Roger Hinton.
The casket was covered with
a pall of pink roses, carnations
and orchids. The choir presented
“Rock of Ages” and “Unclouded
Day.”
The Rev. Robert Lovell, pastor
of Hales, the Rev. C. W. Driver,
pastor of Corinth Baptist Church,
and the Rev. Edward Miles, pastor
of Friendship Free Will Baptist
Church, officiated at the funeral
services. Burial was in the church
cemetery.

113, embarked in the attack air
craft carrier USS Kitty Hawk.

Entre Nous Club A
Has Night Meeting
The Entre Nous Bridge Club met
last Wednesday night with Mrs.
Wallace Chamblee. The club or
dinarily holds its meetings in the
afternoon. /
The club members played amid a
■ Valentine motif. Playing were Mrs.
Ferd Davis, Mrs. Bussell Brantley,
Mrs. Vance Brown, Mrs. Doris Pri
vette, Mrs. Wallace Temple, Mrs. L.
E. Long and Mrs. Foster Finch.
Mrs. Chamblee’s guest was her
nephew’s wife, Mrs. Frederick Josey
of Norfolk, who was visiting her.
Prizes were presented to Mrs.
Davis, high; and Mrs. Brown, low.
At the close of the three progres
sions Mrs. Chamblee served a con
gealed cherry salad, party sandwich,
macaroon, pickle and coffee.
Honor Roll
Miss Judie Allison Temple was
named to the East Carolina College
honor roll for the fall quarter. She
is a freshman at the college and the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allison
Temple of Zebulon.
Mrs. James Alford
Hostess to Club
Mrs. James Alford was hostess to
her bridge club last week. Decorative
arrangements were used throughout
the home.
Members of the Bid-M club pre
sent were Mrs. Alvin Beck, Mrs.
[ Grafton Hudson, Mrs. Jack Liles,
Mrs. M. L. Hagwood, Mrs. James
Debnam, and Mrs. James Wheeler.
Mrs. Donald Stallings was a guest.
High and low score prizes were
presented to Mrs. Liles and Mrs.
Beck, respectively. Mrs. Stallings
was also remembered with a gift.
After the end of the three pro
gressions the hostess served cherry
dessert, ham sandwiches, and colfee.
During play she served homemade

and a 1959 graduate of Wakelon High
School, has been selected by faculty

students on the Meredith College

A sociology major, she is a member

The Saturday Night Couples Bridge
Club was entertained last week by
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Finch. Ar
rangements of early spring flowers
were used for decoration.
Playing were Mr. and Mrs. Ann
strong Cannady, Dr. and Mrs. George
Tucker, Dr. and Mrs. Ben Thomas,
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Beck and Mr.
and Mrs. Ferd Davis. Dr. and Mrs.
Perry Grogan came as guests.
After the prizes were awarded to
Dr. and Xlrs. Tucker for high; Mr.
and Mrs. Cannady, low; and Dr. and
Mrs. Grogan, guest, the hosts served
Chcrry-O cream cheese pie, ham salad
sandwich, cheese wafers, potato chips
and coffee. During play a fruit
drink and candy was served.
A badly burned pan can some
times be easily and quickly cleaned
