Plans are being made to organ ize chapters in the remaining counties of North Carolina where tobacco is grown, and chapters in Virginia, South Carolina and Flor ida. There are two types of members, i active and associate. Regardless j of the type, the membership fee is | $5 a year. | An active member is any indi j vidual who is a resident of North ] Carolina or 'any other State in the United States who derives a ; major portion of his income from producing tobacco. An associate member is any in | dividual, firm or corporation who ! is interested in tobacco farming I and derives, either directly or in directly, from a farm income. The board of directors determine who is eligible for membership. The board is composed of W. A. ' White, C. R. Taylor, Walter Pain j ter, Joe W. Each county will be allowed one director for each 4,000 acres of tobacco but will not exceed five. The term of office of each director is two years. Dean, president of the organiza tion, said: “The Flue Cured Tobacco Growers Association, Inc., was not formed to fight existing farm organizations. The organ izers recognize the value of such organizations. However, it was felt that the importance of tobac co, the number one crop in the state, justifies an organization of its own, an organization controlled by tobacco farmers.’’ Doctor Sick Dr. J. R.
