Wake Electric Plans Annual Meeting Members of Wake Electric Membership Corporation are urged to mark their calendar for March 22nd. That’s the date for the annual meeting of the local rural electric cooperative to be fteld at the Wake Forest Elemen tary School in Wake Forest. The members are reminded that the meeting will be on a Friday night so all the Wake members who are busy with farm work, or work in industrial plants during the day, may attend their meeting, accord ing to N. FFA News The Future Farmers of America chapter of Wakelon School ob served National FFA Week, held February 16. National FFA week is held each year during the week containing George Washington’s birthday be cause Washington was not only a great general, political leader, and president, he was also one of the most outstanding farmers this nation has ever had. He practiced crop rotation, plant breeding, im ported purebred livestock, and supported sound farming pro grams of his day. The Wakelon chapter distrib uted large colored posters, win dow stickers, display tents and small letter stickers in various cafe’s and business establishments. During the week gavels were made to present to the other or ganizations in the school. These gavels will be presented to the president of these organizations during the assembly program Fri day. Donnie Perry, president of the chapter, spoke to the Ruritan Club on February 21. His topic was “Why We Celebrate National FFA Week” and what members of the Wakelon chapter are doing.
