Jehovah’s Witnesses of circuit
36 will hold their first semi-annu
al circuit convention for 1963 at
Sanford, according to a statement
made this week by Cephas jJun
ston, presiding minister of the
north unit congregation in Zebu
Ion.
Members and friends of the Zeb_
ulon congregation are making
plans to attend the gathering.
The meeting is scheduled to
take place Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday, April 5-7, at the Nation
al Guard Armory in Sanford.

Snow Postpones
Bridge Club
The heavy snowfall recently
caused the Wednesday Afternoon
Club to be postponed. However,
Mrs. John Kemp entertained the
club on Thursday at her home on
North Street.
Playing the three progressions
were Mrs. E. C. Daniel, Mrs. S.
G. Flowers, Mrs. J. F. Coltrane,
Mrs. F. L. Page, Mrs. B. H. John
son, Mrs. E. H. Moser, Mrs. C. V.
Whitley and Mrs. A. R. House.
The hostess served a congealed
fruit salad, Virginia ham biscuits,
fresh coconut cake and coffee fol
lowing play.
Spring greenery and jonquils
were used for decorations.
FARMER
Zebulon Jaycees presented Vic
tor M. Pace the area’s “Outstand
ing Young Farmer of the Year”
award last Wednesday night at the
civic group’s semi-monthly meet
ing.
j Bobby Perry, chairman of the
| committee to pick the recipient of
the award, made the presentation.
Pace is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
C. B. Pace of Wakefield communi
; ty. He farms about 75 acres of land
in Wake County, and specializes in
tobacco, corn, small grain, and cot
ton.
The 25-year-old farmer was
born and reared on the farm and
graduated from Wakelon High
School in 1956. He has been raising
his own crops since age 14 and has
farmed intensively since 1958.
He is married to the former
Dean Richardson of Route 1, Wen
dell. They have two children.
He is a former superintendent
of the Wakefield Baptist Church
Sunday School and is a member
of the Senior Board of Deacons of
the church.

TRIP
Capt. Jack Potter, commander
| of Battery A, 5th Missile Battalion,
| 113th Artillery, will fly to Ft. Ben
ning, Ga., Friday for a pre-camp
i conference with Army officers at
the Georgia military reservation.
| Capt. Potter will be a member
of the six-man team headed by Lt.
Col. Collin McKinne of Louisburg,
battalion commander.
The National Guardsmen will
be flown from Raleigh-Durham
Airport on Army National Guard
aircraft of the 30th Aviation Bat
talion. Pilots manning the planes
include Maj. Barrie Davis, execu
tive officer of the Guard aviation
unit.
The artillerymen will return late
Saturday night.
The 5th Missile Battalion will
spend its 15-day active duty train
ing period at Ft. Benning in June.
Attends Workshop
Mrs. Minda Finch, office mana
ger with Devil Dog Manufacturing
Co., Zebulon, attended a secretar
ial workshop in Raleigh on Febru
ary 16. The annual all-day affair
j was held at Sir Walter Hotel. Mrs.
! Finch attended classes in stencil
duplicating and human relations.
The workshop theme was “How to
Succeed- in Business.” It is spon
sored by the National Secretary’s
Association.
