She was being treated for diabetes. • Mrs. Ethel Parker has returned after a three-week vacation with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. Wilburn Snider of Lexington. Mrs. Royal Bunn is suffering from gall bladder attacks and may have to undergo surgery. H. V. Andrews, Jr., is attending the second session of Louisburg College summer school. He is not com muting as he did for the first session. « Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Tart and son attended the Parham family reunion Sunday at the home of Mrs. Tart’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Newton. Mrs. L. E. Long has returned after a two-week vacation with her daugh ter’s family, Mr. and Mrs. Ruric Gill, Jr., at the Gill trailer at Kerr Lake. Mr. Long spent a week’s vacation with the family there. Mrs. Long said it was exciting camping out, sleeping under a tent, and roughing it. * Guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Bunn and Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong Cannady during the weekend were Mrs. W. Y. Floyd and Miss Linda Newton of Lumberton, Mrs. T. Y. Newton of Fayetteville, and Mrs. George Lefelar and three sons of Washington, D. C., and Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Bunn, Jr. and children and Miss Lola Elliott of Boston. Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Eddins and children of Dublin, Ga., visit ed her mother, Mrs. Janet Conn, and his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Eddins, and other relatives last week while on vaca tion. Mrs. Ella Ray suffered a broken hip Sunday when she fell. She is a patient at Wake Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ray had been confined to a Wake Forest rest home for several years. She is in her early ninties. *, Albert Davis, father of Mrs. Lee Daniels, is a patient at Rex Hos pital. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Mann have been visiting here this summer. * Moore Hocutt was admitted to Rex Hospital Monday night. His illness has not been diagnosed. * Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Bell and children, Pat and Charles, are visiting his mother, Mrs. Joris Bell, for the next two weeks. They will also visit Joyce’s parents in Raleigh while here. Rodney and his family reside in Glen Ellyn, 111., where he has been employed by Proctor and Gamble Co. since his graduation from State College. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Grace and two children, boys 8 and 5, are now residing in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Grace has recently established a business there. Mrs. Grace is the former Corinne Bissette of Zebu Ion. Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Gold and four daughters, Shirley, Diane, Michele and Mary, spent last Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Avon Privette and Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Long. Mickey is the nephew of Mrs. Privette and Mrs. Long. The Golds are from Castro Valley, Calif., and have been visiting his father, L. M. Gold of Smtihfleld. * Paul Chamblee, maternal uncle of Mrs. Avon Privette and Mrs. L. E. Long, is a patient at Watts Hos pital in Durham. He is suffering from a malignancy of the lung. Mrs. Long visited him Tuesday. • Mr. and Mrs. Crafton Hudson and children are vacationing this week. They are taking in some historical sights, the main one being Williams burg. • Charles and Curtis Estes, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Estes, have re turned from several weeks visit with their step-grandmother, Mrs. Mattie Estes of Winnsboro. Grandmother Estes returned with them for a visit with Nancy and Amos. Clifford C. Perry is seriously ill at his home. He was recently a patient at Rex Hospital. Mrs. Macon Hobgood of Oxford has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Jerry Buffaloe, and Mr. Buff aloe for several days. Mrs. Vaiden Whitley returned to her home here last Thursday after undergoing treatment and observa tion at Wake Memorial Hospital. Mrs. C. G. Weathersby and her sister, Miss Martha Williams of Clover, Va., have been at the bed side of their brother, A. Lee Williams, who has been a patient at Duke Hos pital for the past two weeks. • Bobby Sawyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sawyer, is attending both sessions of Elon College summer school. Sidney Holmes, Jr., and Freddie Beck are attending the second sum mer school session of East Carolina College. Mrs. Clara Daniels of Arlington, Va., arrived Tuesday for a visit with her sister, Mrs. W. C. Campen, and Mr. Campen. Mrs. B. H. Johnson is spending this week in Charlotte with her daughter’s family, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Goodnight. Mrs. John Kemp recently spent a week with her sister, Mrs. Ralph Brown of Orange, Va. Mrs. Howard Massey was recently the houseguest for a week of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Ankers of Culpepper, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Will Upchurch, Jr., spent the weekend with their daugh ter’s family, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Liles and children of Enfield. » Mrs. H. T. Dean of Wendell, mother of Tom Scarborough, spent a few days this week with her son and his family. Before getting ready to leave for Jacksonville, Fla., where she will visit with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dolphin Griffin. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Dunn and Miss Gayle Dunn spent Sunday in Ahoskie visiting Mrs. Dunn’s sister and her family, Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Whaley. » Mr. and Mrs. Eber Hudson of Statesville were the weekend house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Beck. Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Beck are sisters. The Hudsons and two daugh ters were returning from a vacation on the Outer Banks. • Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brantley and children of Winston-Salem spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Brantley. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Vargas and two children, Cynthia and William, of Riverside, N. J., were the weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Bunn and Brenda. Mrs. Vargas is Mrs. Bunn’s aunt, her father’s sister. • Mrs. John Lambert and three child ren of Okmulgee, Okla., arrived to day (Thursday) for a month’s visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Judd Robertson. Mrs. Aaron Lowery is a patient at Duke Hospital where she is under going tests and observation for hyper tension. Miss Faye Ellington, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Sexton, is visiting her grandparents her. Miss Ellington was a summer school stu dent at Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount. Her roommate, Miss Carole Johnson of Arlington, Va., is here with Faye. On August 11, Mrs. Richard Swain and her family of Wilmington, Dela., will arrive at Atlantic Beach for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hadly and children. From Atlantic Beach Elizabeth and children will come to Zebulon for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Sexton. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Pippin and children, accompanied by Diane Pearce, Martha Raye Goodwin and Ronald Murphy, are vacationing this week at Holden’s Beach. • Mrs. John Terry vacationed in the mountains of North Carolina last week with her brother ahd his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Royster Chamblee of Raleigh. Mrs. Luke Kitahata and children left Saturday for their home in New York after a visit of several weeks here with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. L. M. Massey.' Dr. and Mrs. Massey accompanied their daughter and grandchildren to New York. While there Dr. and Mrs. Massey will visit a cousin, the former Lucille Brown ing, at the Browning cottage on Long Island. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Mech of Baltimore spent last weekend with Mrs. Mech’s sister, Mrs. John Hilliard, and Mr. Hilliard. Rosalie Mech is spending part of her summer vaca tion with Aunt Mitch and Uncle John. • Mrs. Lizzie Massey is vacationing with her daughter’s family, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Howard and children of Massachusetts. The annual Daniel Massey reunion was held Sunday, July 14, at the Lions Club. There were more than 75 descendants present for the picnic dinner. This has been an annual oc casion for the past 31 years. Mrs. W. A. Perry Dies at Her Home Mrs. Walter A. Perry, 78, died Wednesday afternoon, July 24, at her home on Route 4, Zebulon. She was found dead in her bed after she retired for an afternoon nap. Her health had been declining for several years. She was the former Nannie Lou Bunn. Surviving are her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Losey N. Baker, Mrs. Clifton R. Perry, Mrs. Rolan Gordan, Mrs. Max Perry, Jr., and Miss Rachel Perry, all of Zebulon, four sons, Oscar W. Perry of Bal timore, W. A. Perry, Jr., Roy A. Perry and Lester N. Perry, all of Zebulon, and 24 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Officiating at the funeral were the Rev. Claude Walker of Hop kins Chapel Church and the Rev. David Daniel of Zebulon Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Allen Mitchell, Warren Perry, Joe Baker, Basil Perry, Danny Gordon and Johnny Pearce. The casket was covered with a pall of red roses. The church choir sang “Have Faith in God,” The Old Rugged Cross,” and “Face to Face.” The paramount issue at this time of the year seems to center around the annual vacation and the fam ily budget. Hood of Zebulon and Mr. and Mrs. T. Y. Pirryear vis ited Mrs. Alice Hood and Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Puryear Thursday night. The Alfonza Starnes visited the F. S. Hoods of Zebulon Friday night. Miss Linda Jeffreys of Raleigh spent a few days with Shelby Jean Moody last week. The T. Y. Puryears, Sr., spent a while with the Ennis Puryears of Mitchell’s Mill Monday p.m. The Hoyle Davises of Bethany were guests of the K. R. Hinnants Sunday afternoon. The A. O. Puryears visited the Harold Earps and the Bennet Barnes near Raleigh Sunday af ternoon. me Lawrence Ruryears of Ra leigh were visitors of the T. Y. Puryears, Sr., Wednesday night. Mrs. John Starnes spent the weekend at Morehead with her daughter and family, Mrs. Charlie Carter. She came to Kinston and spent the night with Mrs. Bill Agan. Mrs. Shirley Hemby and girls brought her home Saturday and stayed through Monday. The J. T. Gays visited his broth er’s wife, Mrs. Junius Gay of Bai ley. She died Tuesday. The Herman Faucetts and Del ma Whitaker of Raleigh called on the S. T. Whitakers Sunday. Mrs. J. B. Carter and Mrs. Pearl Wood took Debra and Steree Perry home to Wilmington last Thurs day and went to the beach. Mrs. J. G. Pearce and daughters, Judy and Sandy of Raleigh, vis ited the J. B. Carters Sunday af ternoon. Mrs. Margarette Jeffreys of Raleigh called Monday. The Frank Starnes family of Wendell had lunch with his par ents, the Alfonza Starnes, Sunday. Visitors of the T. Y. Puryears, Sr., Sunday and Sunday night were the T. Y. Puryears and children, Marvin, Jean and Susan of Wen dell, the Maynard Puryears and sons, Donald and Freddie of Ra leigh. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Watson rnd children, Karen and Keith of Dal las, Tex., Mrs. C. D. Puryear and son, George of Youngsville, Route 1, the Carl Puryears, Mrs. Naomi Carter, Ted Cashwell and children of Raleigh, and W. J. and Douglas Hollifleld. Mrs. E. V. Rhodes visited Mr. and Mrs. Rom Honeycutt Sunday. Wilbur Rhodes of Fuquay Springs spent Sunday night with his mother, Mrs. E. V. Rhodes, the John Perrys of Wendell and the Drexel Rhodes of Hopkins Cross Roads visited Mrs. Rhodes in the afternoon. Mrs. Agnes Hood and grand daughter, Gayle Stainback of Em poria, Va., spent last week with Mrs. Walter Todd. Bob Young of Fuquay Springs, formerly of this section, is critical ly ill in Rex Hospital, Raleigh. Mrs. Sherwood Horton’s son, Garland Rhodes, is a patient at Wake Memorial Hospital, Raleigh. The J.
