Miss Bunn, Mr. Strickland Wed Miss Brenda Frances Bunn and Bernice Leslie Strickland ex changed marriage vows Friday evening, August 9, at eight o’clock in Zebulon Baptist Church. Officiating at the double ring ceremony were the bride and bridegroom’s pastors, the Rev. David Daniel and the Rev. Horace Hamm. Nuptial music prior to the cere mony was presented by Miss Mar- j garet Simmons of Wadesboro, or ganist, and a college classmate of the bride. Mrs. Frank Kemp, so loist, sang, “Entreat Me Not to Leave Thee,” “O Lord Most Holy,” “O Perfect Love,” “Bless This House,” and for the benediction, “The Lord’s Prayer.” The vows were said before an altar banked with altar baskets of white bridal floweTs, ferns and palms. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal gown of chantilly lace over satin and veiled with an overskirt of silk organza. The bodice was of princess design with long fitted sleeves that came to points over the hands. The overskirt was edged in matching chantilly lace and extended into a cathedral train. Appliques of lace on the bodice and train were elaborately beaded with seed pearls and se quins. Her tiered veil of French illusion fell from a tiara of or ange blossoms and pearls. She carried a formal tiffany bouquet of stephanotis, white bride’s roses, centered with white or chids, which was tied with nylon net and satin streamers. Serving as matron of honor was Mrs. Walton Parker, Jr., of Smith field. Miss Harriet Rivers of Wadesboro was maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Kenneth Eddins of Raleigh, Miss Carroll Hicks of Raleigh, Mrs. Dewey Brannan of Zebulon, Miss Ann Creech of Zebulon, Miss Mary Frances Carver of Roanoke Rapids, and Miss MaTy Beth Hughes of Kinston. Matron, maid of honor, and bridesmaids’ dresses were pink silk organiza over taffeta with back panels of organza edged in chantilly lace of a darker shade. They wore pill box hats of pink with shoulder veils, and carried waterfall bouquets of rose poms, pink spoon mums, feathered pink carnations filled with satin petals with seed pearls. Each was tied with Better Time bows. Honorary bridesmaids were Miss Jo Ann Bunn and Mrs. Ronny Jones, cousins of the bride; Miss Andrea Lee Eddins, cousin of the groom; and Miss Phyllis Braswell. They were gowned in white form al gowns and carried nosegay corsages. Cindy Pearce of Salisbury and David Moss, of Youngsville cous ins of the bride, served as flower girl and ring bearer. The groom had his father, B. E. Strickland, as best man. Groomsmen were Roswald Fip pen of Richmond, Va., head usher; Charlie Myers of Danville, Va., Jimmy Weaver of South Hill, Va., W. G. Griswold, Jr., Vaughan Wade, Floyd Farrington and Franklin Eddins, and Billy Bis sette of Elm City. The mother of the bride was gowned in a formal aqua satin and lace sheath. The fitted bodice with a square neckline and bolero jacket was satin and the skirt of matching color was lace over satin with a bustle effect in the back. She wore matching accessories and a white orchid. The groom’s mother wore a pink formal gown with a lace bodice and billowy chiffon skirt over peau de soie. The fitted bod ice with a round neckline was out lined with rhinestones. She wore matching accessories and a white orchid corsage. The maternal grandmother of the bride, Mrs. M. C. Pearce, wore a pink crepe sheath formal gown with matching accessories and a white orchid corsage. Mrs. Nina Eddins, maternal grandmother of the groom, was gowned in a light grey embroidered sheer with white accessories. She wore a white carnation corsage. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Cullen Bunn of Zebulon, is a cum laude graduate of Meredith College. She was a member of the sociology club, N.E.A., student government asso ciation leadership counsel, nomi nating committee, served as hall proctor on freshman hall, elected to membership “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universi ties, president of Philaretian So ciety on campus and was tapped into Kappa Nu Sigma, scholastic honorary society. She was named to the dean’s list all four years at Meredith. The bridegroom served a two year tour of duty with the U. S. Navy and is presently attending Campbell College where he is a rising senior. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Strickland of Zebulon. The couple’are also graduates of Wakelon High School. After a wedding trip to the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee the couple will reside in Buies Creek Trailer Park, Buies Creek. The bride will teach second grade at Coats. Rehearsal Party Following the rehearsal Thurs day night, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Perry and Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Braswell were hosts to a cake cut ting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Perry on Gannon Avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Bernice Bunn, aunt and uncle of the bride-elect, greeted guests and introduced them to the hosts who invited them into the dining room. Presiding over the punch bowl was Mrs. B. E. Strickland, mother of the bridgroom-elect. Mrs. W. C. Bunn, mother of the bride elect, presided over the tiered wedding cake. Mrs. Joe High as sisted with the service. The table was covered with a white lace cloth over pink satin and was centered with a vertical arrangement of pink tiffany roses, pink gladioli, burgundy coleus and showered with white artemisia. All appointments were of silver. Companion floral arrangements were throughout the house which was thrown ensuite for the occa sion. Refreshments were cake, rose shaped mints, nuts, vegetable sandwiches and strawberry punch. Mrs. Marshall Pearce, aunt of the bride, presided over the reg ister. Goodbyes were said to Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Murray. Members of the wedding party were received first and the bridal couple cut the traditional first slice. Miss Bunn wore a white car nation corsage and the mothers of the couple wore pink carnation corsages, presented by the hosts. On the patio where guests wan dered for more refreshments and entertainment were lighted wrought iron hurricane lamps en twined with ivy and ribbons. Miss Gladys Baker presided over a crystal punch bowl surrounded by a garland of zinnias in shades of pink and rose. Reception Immediately following the cere mony the parents of the bride en tertained at a reception at their home on North Street. The home was thrown ensuite for the occa sion and decorated with white flo ral arrangements.
