The society is a newly founded organization for music lovers. It was organized for the promotion and presentation of works of both classical and modern com posers. Mrs. Kemp will present four selections at the State House on Saturday afternoon, August 24. She will sing,“ Das Unerkannte,” “Ein Rundum,” “Ein Anderes,” and “An Sich.” All selections—both vocal and instrumental—are by Ernst Kre nek. Krenek, a German by birth, now resides in California. He will be present for the three-day event in his honor. Charles Horton, minister of mu sic at Zebulon Baptist Church and a candidate for a doctorate of mu sic degree from the University of North Carolina, will accompany Mrs. Kemp. Mrs. Kemp was the soprano so loist when Shubert’s oratorio, “Miriam’s Song of Triumph,” was presented at the close of Univer sity of North Carolina’s first sum-, mer school session. The production was directed by Horton. Accompanying the group was the North Carolina String Quartet. Mrs. Ethel Casey is president of the society. Bid-M Club Is Played Recently Members of the Bid-M Bridge Club were guests recently wher Mrs. Alvin Beck was hostess Play was amid mixed summei flower arrangements. Playing were Mrs. James Al ford, Mrs. M. L. Hagwood, Mrs, Grafton Hudson, Mrs. Bobby Sher ron, Mrs. Jimmy Wheeler, Mrs, Bobby Ross Eddins and Mrs. Jack Liles. After the close of three progres sions, high and low score prizes were awarded to Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Wheeler, respectively. Refreshments were strawberry pie, chicken salad sandwiches, pickles and iced tea. During play lime ice float and pretzels were passed. Millard Morgan Finishes Basic Army Pvt. Millard Morgan, 23 completed an eight-week basic field artillery course at The Artil lery and Missile Center, Fort Sill, Okla., August 9. He entered the Army in March of this year and completed basic training at Fort Gordan, Ga. A former student at Wakelor High School, Morgan was employ ed by Burlington Mills in Rocky Mount before entering the Army His father, Robert H. Morgan lives on Route 2, Zebulon. Telephone Talk By R. Gets Law Degree Jackson Howard Bunn, Jr., was among those candidates who pass ed the state bar examinations held August 5, 0 and 7 in Raleigh. Bunn holds a batchelor of laws degree from Wake Forest College. He is a 1959 graduate of Wake Forest College with a batchelor of science degree. He is a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity and also the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He is married to the former Janelle Smith of Lexington, a 1961 graduate of Wake Forest Col lege. They are the p irents of one son, Howard Bunn III. His plans at this time are not complete. He is, however, look- j ing forward to the practice of law in North Carolina. Bunn, 25, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Howard Bunn, Sr., of Zeb- j ulon. Mrs Farmer Has Her Bridge Club Mrs. Pat Farmer was hostess to , the Diamond Bridge Club at her \ home on North Street recently. Play was amid mixed summer flower arrangements. Members playing were Mrs. Howard Beck, Mrs. Charles Flow ers, Mrs. Norman Screws, Mrs. Carsey Tippett and Mrs. Douglas Finch. Mrs. Fred Smith, Mrs. A. S. Hinton and Mrs. Raleigh Alford were guests. High and low score prizes went to Mrs. Screws and Mrs. Tippett, respectively. Mrs. Smith was the recipient of guest high. After the close of three progres sions the hostess laid the tables and served refreshments of frozen cherry delight salad, ham biscuits, pickle and ginger ale. Cokes were passed during play. BIRTH Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bryan of Oak City announce the birth of a daughter on August 8 at Wendell Zebulon Hospital. Mrs. Bryan is the former Kay Martin of Zebu Ion. Kindergarten Mrs. Howard Bunn has announc ed that registration and orienta tion for students who will enter her kindergarten classes this year will be held Friday, August 30. Regular classes will begin on Tuesday, September 3. The mobile x-ray unit will be in Zebulon on September 5 and 6. Persons desiring free chest x-rays may secure them from the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The unit will be on the main avenue of town, between the Woman’s Club and Es so Station. Luncheon Honors Bride-Elect Mrs. Kenneth Eddins of Raleigh entertained at a luncheon honor ing Miss Brenda Bunn on July 27 in the Jackson Room of Balen tine’s Confederate House. The honoree was presented a corsage and a gift of crystal by the hostess. Besides Miss Bunn, other guests were her mother, Mrs. Willian C. Bunn, Mrs. Harold Eddins, Mrs. Rochelle Long, Mrs. Joan Parker, Mrs. Theresa Marlowe, Miss Anne Crech and Mrs. Kaye Rich. The parents of Miss Marian Farmer, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Farm er of Lansing, spent the weekend with their daughter. Paula and Stuart Hudson, chil dren of Mr. and Mrs. Crafton Hud eon, spent last week with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Warren of Salemburg. Dion Hendricks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Hendricks, under went a tonsillectomy and adnoid ectomy last week at McPherson Hospital in Durham.
