senior band and girls trying out
for majorettes are asked to report
for practice on Wednesday, Au
gust 28, band director Jimmy
Burns, said this week. Practice
is scheduled for 9 a.m.
Burns said this meeting of band
members and majorettes is very
important. A program will be
worked out for the first football
game set for September 6.
Principal Hawkins said some
minor changes have been made in
the elementary and high school
fees. Instructional supply fees in
grades one through eight have been
reduced and slight fee changes are
noted in the high school depart
ment.

She has been superintendent of the
Intermediate Department of Sun
day School, and is a member of the
adult choir.
Mrs. Gay is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. H. L. Brantley of Spring
Hope. She is a graduate of Spring
Hope High School. She was act
ing postmaster from July 31, 1948,
until her appointment as post
master on June 21 of 1949.
The post office advanced from
fourth class to third class in 1951.

Has 8th Birthday
Beverly Wheeler was feted on
her eighth birthday August 8 by
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy
Wheeler. The party was held at
the Wheeler residence here.
