Mr. Ted Cashwell and Mrs.
Naomi Carter of Raleigh visited
a while at the J. B. Carters Sunday
afternoon.

Whitakers of Raleigh and Mrs.
James Liles of Wendell.
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Agan and
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Agan, Jr.,

A picnic lunch was held at the
Cabin at Mr. J. B. Carters Sunday
honoring Mr. and' Mrs. Jimmie
Faircloth and children of Dallas,
Texas. There was a large crowd
and a bountiful lunch. The Pur
year and Moody families sponsored
the lunch. Mrs. Faircloth is the
daughter of the C. D. Puryears of
Youngsville, Rt. 1.

Rhodes of Wakefield, Mr. and Mrs.
Ben Mason of Wendell and Mrs.
Hettie Vause of near Central
Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Hodge and
baby also called and Mr. and Mrs.
T. Y. Puryear, Jr. of Wendell.
Mrs. Bertha Hood and son,
Charles who is spending some time
with her on leave from the Army
visited Mrs. Alice Hood and Mr.
and Mrs. T. Y. Puryear a while
. last Wednesday afternoon. Charles
has been in Korea but will be
stationed in Arkansas now.

ment. Mrs. Haswell is spending a
while with Mr. and Mrs. Alpheus
Haswell in Wendell.
Sgt. Claud Zimmerman and
family of Fort Knox, Kentucky
spent the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. J. T. Gay.
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Gay visited
his sister, Mrs. Joseph Tucker,
who is very ill in Watts Hospital
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Puryear of
Rolesville had lunch with their
parents Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Williford of
Raleigh spent a while at the T.
Y. Puryears Thursday.

Bachelor's Dinner

Mr. and Mrs. B. £. Strickland
were hosts to a bachelor’s party
Thursday night, August 8, honor
ing their son, Leslie, and the
groomsmen who served at his
wedding.
The dinner party was held on
the lawn of the Strickland home.
The table was covered with a white
cloth and centered with a floral
bouquet of pink.
The dinner consisted of chicken
barbecue, country ham biscuits,
potato salad, cole slaw, hors d’
oeuvres, fresh coconut and pecan
pies and iced tea.

Weaver, Roswald Flippen, Charlie
Myers, Billy Bissette, W. G. Gris

brella, which the honoree opened
before the refreshment hour.

nuts.

Dies in Norfolk
Funeral services were conducted
for Mrs. Robert Davis, 54, 01
Norfolk Saturday. Mrs. Davis, th«
former Lydia Wilson, was th<
sister of Mrs. Willard Winbourn*
and David Wilson of Zebulon.
Mrs. Davis died suddenly a'
her home on Wednesday, Augus
6, after being stricken with a heari
attack.
Besides Mrs. Winboume and Mr
Wilson she is survived by her hus
band, a daughter, a grandson
three other brothers, Clarenc*
Wilson of Zebulon, Everett Wilsor
of Middlesex and the Rev. James
W. Wilson of Durham; and twt
other sisters, Mrs. Ervin Liles oi
Middlesex and Mrs. Bernice Find
of Wilson.
