' .- On Thursday evening the Junior class of the- city high school enter tained the Senior class at an elegant banquet in the domestic science rooms in the Griffin building. J The guests were greeted by a com mittee of Juniors and ushered into the auditorium, where the following pi ogram was rendered: ,' Commencement ; Song J uhior .Class. Following this delightful program, the guests were ushered to the do mestic science rooms where the ban quet was served. - The rooms were beautifully decor ated in green and white, the colors of the Senior class. Truly-the hands of artists had been at work In carry ing out the decorations in these colors, with the bamboo, white moss and magnolias. ' ' The tables were decorated with baskets of white roses, the flower of the Senior class. ' t. " 'The colors of the class .were also carried out in the menu of grape fruit cocktails, chicken salad, lec tuce, olive sandwiches, pickles, cof fee,' Ice cream, cake and mints. Miss Mary Belo Moore, president of the Junior class, acted the role of toastmlstress on this happy occasion in a very charming manner. The first toast was given by the toastmls tress to the Seniors and responded to by Miss (Laura - Roberts.' Miss Jane Dill toasted the president of the Senior claas and was responded to by Miss Harriet Dunn, who is president of the class. Miss Minnie Scales read an original poem expressing" the hope that all junior classes will fol low the example set by this year's Juniors Jn entertaining the Seniors. The responses to this were given by Jack. Hollister, president of 9-1 class, Miss Nellie Armstrong, president of 9-2;, Miss Bertha Thally, president , of 8-1, and Robert McSorley, president of 8-2, promising that their classes would follow the good example set by the Juniors. Miss Leslie related some, amazing anecdotes on the present senior and junior classes, bringing , forth much laughter - and merriment from those present. Miss Caldwell told of the hopes and ideals that the faculty cherish for, the two classes. These hopes which ever remain in the hearts of the 'members- of these classes to be their guide as they go ouf from C their dear alma mater. It evidenced the , beautiful spirit existing - between the classes and- the faculty of the high" school, and served, to "weld the hearts of the Seniors more closely to their alma mater. ;Those enjoying the hospitality of the Junior class in addition to the graduates were, the high school faculty, commencement marshals, presidents of -all the high school classes, Supt. H. B. Smith, F. L. Ashley, and .T. A.- Green, William Dunn and Dr. Z. .V. Parker, represen tatives from the board of trustees of the school. MRS. L. J. TAYLOR DE- LIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINS On , Tuesday evening Mrs. L. J. Taylor entertained most delightfully at her home On East Front street in honor of Miss Frances Royall, who iB?a member of the graduating class, for ; the graduates, jnarshalls and teachers' of the NEW BERN high school. ,, , ' " The cjass colors, green and white, were everywhere predominant. The honoree was appropriately gowned in white voijQjWJthja touch oJT, green; l white: flowers s decorated the rooms and hallw4y kidv the refreshments, consisting ? of t green and " white i ice cream and-cake, completed the har mony.' :- i : '; " f During the evening' Mrs. ' Clyde Elby presided over the punch bowl which proved to be a very popular place' among the young people. f The guests enjoyed a "do as you please" night. ' ThoBe who wished music, cards or dancing found it de lightful inside, while others retired to the veranda to watch the glorious moonlight on the river. -The following .seniors were pre sent: -?
