Misses Ritta Rackley and Pattie Smith, of Nashville, accompanied by Sidney Smith and Van Weaver, were in this community Sunday. The peple of the Bass section are nearing completion a nice building which when completed,, will be. dedi cated to the use of Sunday school, preaching and prayer services. Our singing school has closed for the present. The class improved in singing. The favorable comments heard ought to stimulate the young paople to higher attainments in that line. His many friends and relatives were glad to have with them Mr. J. L. Winstead and daughter, Carrie, of Norfolk, Va. After spending a week visiting his people they re turned home. An effort is being made to con tinue the school until June, thus making a nine-months term. Miss Cooper seems to keep the school well in hand. Indeed we were fortunate in securing such a teacher. Several of the young men are going to organize a string band. Uncle Ike is anxious to hear some good sweet old-time music. Music, how it soothes the soul, quickens and re freshes our feelings, charms and en livens our imaginations, and prompts us to nave sublime thoughts and as pirations that lead to noble deeds Uncle Ike. Mr. and Mrs. Pace, of Franklin county, were in this vicinity Sunday visiting the former home of Mrs, Pace, Mr. F. S. Strickland's. Mr. J. L. Bryant has Bold his in terest in the machininery recently purchased from Mr. C. B. Strick land and will engage in the merchan dise business. We wish him much success. Mr. J. H. Woodard left Monday for Winston-Salem to attend the State meeting of the Junior Order United American Mechanics, where he goes as the representative of the local Council. ; Sunday School was in progress last Sunday when 'Squire W. O. Williams was called to the grove surrounding the house of worship and Were per formed the ceremony which united in marriage Mr. Harry Edwards and Miss Ada Lewis.
