Tha CoonW Snperlntendency . On the first Monday in July it be comes the duty of the Board of County Commissioners to appoint the County Superintendent of Schools. This appointment is not without its attendent responsibili ties, as upon the action of the Board will depend the weal or woe of the educational progress of Nash coun ty and, to a great extent, the life work and' destinies of thousands of children throughout the county. The past year or two has seen a marked improvement in conditions educationally throughout the coun ty. There has been a decided eleva tion of the standard of teachers em ployed and the service required of all teachers has been more exacting and responsible. As a result, the progress and standard of work in all the schools has been more marked lliuu ever before in the history of the county. While practically every teacher in the county has' measured up to the full standard 4ftd a great work has been accomplished by rea son of the co-operation of school coinir.iitecnii.-ii, patron and pupil i a u i e.iL t-xtent are these admir- able.coii(luioii3 due to the efficient zealous and aggressive work and in fluenco of the county superintend ent, Mr. Samuel F. Austin, who now seeks re-appointment to the po sition hr lias so acceptably and faith fully held for the term. During nis ad min iscracion Mr. Austin has acquired a thorough knowledge of the responsible duties devolved up- upon him; and by reason of his con stant association and co-operation - with the teachers and school com mitteemen in the various districts, mingling with the patrons and as certaining the conditions and needs of the various communities, coupled with the fact that his heart and soul is in thorough accord and sympathy with every measure calculated to ad vance the educational interests of Nash county as a whole,, more emi nently qualifies him for the position as C o u n ty Superintendent of Schools. Nash county has suffered in the p ist by reason of rapid and unwise changes in the various branches of her government. In the matter of the county superintendence there should be no mistake made; no back ward step should be taken. The ground gained by reason of Super intendent Austin's zealous "work; tha continued advancement of the cause of education under -bis direc tion and .that of hw asssciates should not be retarded by. a. change; hen conditions do not justify such ac tion, but rather make it almost imo perative that Mr.; Austin ben-ap pointed. ' v " ' " If is The Graphic's privilege uad pleasure to know to a great extern the earnestnt S3 and thoroughness of Mr.Austin's work that has advanced ouf educational system until Nash county can really lay clai, loaVys, tern. His re-appointment will meet - the hearty approval of nt th e people-, throughout ' the county and will be deserving re cognition of the faithful and valu able service rendered since the re sponsible duties were placed in his keeping.' . It is said the pro moters of The Transcript lost about four thousand dollars in the ven ture. During its existence the pa per was a "live wire" ant) reflected credit upon Editor Wilson, who was a gifted writer. - As the public roads of Nashville district are in very bad condition, it would be the part of wisdom for Chairman Bissette to utilize the re mainder of the force in remedying the conditions. Food should be thoroughly masticated and insalivated. - Then when you have a fullness of the stomach or feel dull and stupid; after eating, take one of Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets. Means) Poor Quality There is very little excuse for any person to claim that he has been "stung" on a purchase. Fifty years ago the buyer' had to look out, but today , it is unusual to find a mer chant who will not return the money for any article that has proved un satisfactory. An excelled t example of this kind of fair dealing is shown by the clean cut guarantee that Nashville Drug Co., give on Dodson's Liver Tone.-. . These people tell us that any per son who pays 50c for a bottle of Dodson's -Liver Tone and does, not find it a gentle and most, pleasant liver tonic, harmless, but a sure re liever of constipation and a perfect substitute for calomel, can get his money back just as quick as they can get it out of the money drawer, Dodson's Liver Tone has practic ally taken the place of calomel, . It is absolutely harmless, sure in it's action and eauses no restriction of habit or diet. No- wonder the drug people are glad , to recommend it, while other remedies that imitate the claims of Dodson's Liver Tone are not guaranteed at all. - Notice. Geo. A.
