TIIEGRAPHIC. Published at . . ' NASHVILLE, " North Carolina. 8oBicmiov: !One Year, 1.50 Six Months, 1.00 Threa . " ' .60 M. W L1NCKE. Editor. THURSDAY. JAN. IT. 1918. A movementvhich (a destined to be of much benefit to the young men . of Nashville was started last Sunday by some of , the leading wo-kers In Nashville Baptist Church vhi have decided to establish a ding room in the basement of .h. Baptist Church, which, begin ning next Sunday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock will be used for that pur pose. It is the purpose of the pro motors of this movement to keep on hand a number of leading maga zines and publications for the bene fit of the young men of the city, Who will have access to the reading room every Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 6:00 o'clock. P. M. Those of Nashville citizens who have a few lae magazines which they would lik? to donate to the reading room will confer a favor upon the young men by handing same to Rev. Oscar Creech or to some official member of the Baptist Church, who will be glad to receive them Begin now to plan for your "h me supply crop" for this year. D not be forced to depend upon the canning factories of other sec tions to supply your needs Look well after the chickens and pigs hut are to be your main depend-'ic-wi'hin the next few months. G'v 'he boys and girls on the farm a c an -e to develop the live stock and poultry end of your operations this year. See that the boy has a corn patch. Make him a partner in the business and you'll profit there by. Also look after the convenienc es in your home. Do nek. expect the wife to "keep house" and "do her bit" without some of the actual necessities of the household. NITRATE SODA SITUATION Local Firm la Position To Meet the Needs of Their Customers. The fertilizer question, especially with reference to Nitrate of Soda, is one that is perplexing many farm ers just at this time. The Govern ment has made provision for secur ing Nitrate of Soda which will be furnished the farmers for cash at a cost of $75 pr ton, plus the tax and movement. While many farmers are in a position to pay spot cash for Nitrate of Soda in conformity with the price stipulated by the Govern ment, there are possibly many who are deeply concerned as to how they will be able to secure a sufficient supply for their needs during the coming season. In discussing this question with Mr. George N. Bissette, of The Ar-rington-Bissette Co., The Graphic representative was informed that this well-known firm was in a posi tion to take care of the needs of their customers desiring Nitrate of Soda, selling it to them on the same basis as those farmers who buy from the government. This shows to what extent the above-named firm looks after the welfare of their pat rons and should be gratifying news to those who have heen concerned as to the Nitrate of Soda situation for the coming season.
