has been arranged for the meeting, and
a large audience is expected to take part

Six eases were on docket for trial in
recorder's court this morniug. In four
cases defendants were charged with as
saults with deadly weapons, in another
the defendant was charged with assault
and in the other the defendant was
charged with inf ixication. Three of the
cases were against one man.
Cases of new diseases reported to the
county health department Tuesday, ac
cording to a department report, include:
one case of diphtheria, three cases of
i ehicken pox, one ease of measles, six
i cases of smallpox and nine cases of
| whooping cough. The smallpox patients
i live in Kannapolis, the report added.
|! The Men's Bible Class Banquet of the
i First Presbyterian Sunday School will be
held Thursday evening beginning at six

| The funeral of James Franklin Teeter,
1 father of Hampton Teeter, of this city,
j who died suddenly Tuesday in Salisbury
at the home of relatives, was held this
morning at 11 o'clock at Big Lick church
in Stanly county. Mr. Teeter went to
Salisbury Tuesday as scon as he heard
of his father's death and accompanied
other members of the family to Stanly
county for the funeral.

I teams met recently and the outcome of
that game, won By Erlanger, shows that
the teams are evenly matched. The

of the First Presbyterian Church.

of the Methodist Church of that city, has
received a call to the pastorate of the
Mount Vernon Methodist Church, of
| Washington, D. C„ and that he is se
| riously considering the call. Mr. Lam
; beth is recognized as one of the ablest
, ministers in the Methodist Church in
the State and has been pastor of several
of the largest church in the Western
North Carolina conference.
