The games were all very interesting, and all of the play ers showed good form. Some of Dr. Run kin's men were unable to play due to other engagements: and there is no tell ing how bad Salisbury would have gotten it if the entire first string players bad been on the job. If Concord will only continue to play the brand of volley ball that was played Friday night then- is not a doubt but that they can show Win stou-Salem and Charlotte something be sides a grin next year. Everyone en joyed the games thoroughly, and each match brings a few more fans who thing ta-t is is worth while to see what volley Kail Is and-how it is played and where the fun comes in- Coneotu wil} have three other matches soon, probably one each week between Winston-Salem, Char lotte, and Greensboro. Chief Activity of Department of Justice s Inder Daugherty. ipWadflpMa. Record. I According to a good many witnesses ‘from many localities, the ebief activities of the Department of Justice under Mr. Daugherty were in the protection of public land thieves and bootleggers and peddlers of “dope" in the Atlanta Peni tentiary. If Mr, Daugherty i*> the great and good man lie assures ns that he is, it seems almost incredible that there could be so many stories of the prostitu tion of tbe Department of Justice for the protection of lawbreakers. On the other hand, if half the stories told by witnesses before the investigating com mittee are true, the ex-Attorney General ought to go to Atlanta wit hsoecial pre cautions against his buying “dope" for his own use. It seems to us that the case has gone far enough now to demand something besides investigation. We suggest that it is time for Attorney General Stone to ask the grand jury to indict his predecessor. -■ ■I ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ » ———— ■ n „ f IN AND ABOUT THE CITY Kannapolis Smothers Concord Aggrega tion.
