According to deeds filed Friday with the register of deeds, the following frans-' fers have been made in the county: J. A. Goodman to M. C. Moore: J. S.-Archer to R. L. Smith : J. S. Smith to Neal, Er nest. Frank and John P. Archer. Two basketball games are scheduled for Concord tonight, the first to be played be tween the Concord and Salisbury girls and the second between the Y varsity and the Davidson team. The games will be played at the high school court the first to begin at. 7:30 o’clock. R. L. Blaekwelder, Jr., infant son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Blaekwelder, of Vance Street, died this morning nt eight o'clock, of pneumonia, after three weeks' illness. The burial will take place Sun day at the home, and interment will take • place at Marion. R. L. Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Blaekwelder. died this morning at nine o’clock at their home on Vance street. The child was fifteen months of age and had been ill several days. Fuheral ser vices will be held some time tomorrow, the hour to be determined later. A number of defendants were tried in police court Friday anti several of them were sentenced to the chain gang. The others found guilty paid fines and costs totalling $l2O. The session of the-court Friday was the first since Monday as no cases were docketed for the regular ses sions on Wednesday. Townley It. Stevens, ah ex|>ericnced hardware man, has been with the Yorke & Wadsworth Co. this week rearranging their large stock of shelf and heavy hard ware. They are now adding a number of new items, which when completed will make the store equal to any in the Car olinas. Robert Holdsclaw, young negro who was arrested several days ago after he is alleged to have stolen a sack of flour, was tried Friday afternoon and sentenc ed to serve sx months on the chain gang. The negro is alleged to have stolen the flour from the store of John W. Cline and to have sold it to a case for SI.OO. D. R. Morrison is confined to his home with injuries sustained Friday morning when he slipped on the sleet. Mr. Morrison has betyi confined to his home since the fall, his condition today being reported as only slightly improved. It was first reported that Mr. Morrison had suffered a broken hip in the fall, but this report is.not true. I The February meeting of the board of county commissioners will be held at the court house here Monday morning. So far as is known now no matters of unus ual importance is scheduled to come be fore the meeting and the commissioners are expected to devote moHt of the meeting time to routine matters. Contractors building the Concord-Mt. Pleasant road have found it almost im possible to get much done during the past several weeks. First the rains interrupt ed the work and then the sleet came and halted operations again. Work on other roads in the county also has been halted by the unfavorable weather of the past several weeks. A wheel on a milk wagon of the Ca bafrus Creamery Co. ran off Friday while the wogan was being driven on Bprng street The wagon was dragged several blocks but later had to be ebaudoned near the ntersection of Bpring and West Depot streets. Cream and milk in the wagon at the time of the accident waa not spilled and the driver was not hurt aa the wagon did not turn over. Sol continues to get the best of the sleet which fell in Concord Wednesday night and Thursday morn'ng and his rays have about dried up the ice. Much of the ice was melted Thursday afternoon and practically at) of the remainder was dried tip Friday and this morning.
