Announcement was made here today by John L. Miller, secretary of the State Firemen's Association, that the associa tion’s annual convention will be held this year in Asheville during the" week of July 13th, with Thursday of that week to be open for the 'races. The date of the convention was select ed at a conference held in Asheville by Frank W. Bennett, of Durham, presi dent of the association: Mr. Miller and representatives of the Ashevillfe Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Miller states that the Battery Park Hotel has been selected as head quarters and it is estimated that be tween 4<k> and 500 firemen aud guests will attend. The organization has mem bers in TOO cities ’and towns in the state with a total membbrship of around 3.500. The tournament and races are expect ed to attract wide attention, Mr. Miller added, and elaborate plans are . being made in Asheville for.the entertainment of the visitors attending the convention.
