ty country home of his son, Rufus Safrit,
celebrating his 80th birthday anniver
sary.
A table between fifty and seventy-five
feet long was erected in the yard under
the large native oaks, an ideal place on
a hot day, and was literally loaded with
the most tempting viands, such as the
good women of that community know how
to prepare.
The blessing was invoked by the pas
tor. Rev. C. A. Brown, after which every
body was invited to help themselves.
The occasion was one long. tQ be re

Auto Smash at Kaunapolis Results, in
Injury to Two.
An anto crash which resulted in the
injury to two persons at Kannapolis oc
curred Monday when the Ford roadster
V driveii by Zeb Bradford collided with -a
Nash roadster driven by a Mr. Spencer.

A.- a result of the accident, Mr, Brad
ford received a fractured hip -and is now
'iu a Salisbury . Hospital. Spencer was
vfcr so seriously injured although he'was
painfuiy bruised and cut. Both the cars
were badly damaged.

returned to the city after a bridal trip
to western North Carolina and are at
home on. Sycamore street. Mrs. Over
cash, prior to her marriage on the 15th
of July, was Miss Bertha Hampton.
Mr. Charles Maynard will leave short
-ITy for a musical trip in Virginia. Mr.
Maynard has a rich beautiful tenor and

ers.
Mr. Jake Widenhouse, who spent sev
eral months traveling in the west and
in ,Mexico, lias returned home to spend a
few weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs;
T. M. Widenhouse. on South Main street.
Miss Vera Moore, who has been the
attractive guest of Miss Mary I/ee Hill
for the past week, has returned to her
home in Chattanooga, Tenn. During her
visit Miss Moore was accorded a round
of lovely parties by the many friends of
Miss Hill.
Misses Virginia Viola and Aileen
Moose are attending >a young girls’ con
ference in Salisbury.
Mr. John S. Carpenter will spend the
week-end at Blowing Rock.

years, have returned to Kannapolis and
