Many farmers in Concord now are complaining about hunters running over their lands It is known that hundreds of land posting notices have been sold in Concord during the past several weeks, the farmers declaring they wou'd not object to the hunters if they would on’.y act reasonable. It is said that rabbits and quail both are being killed now. Approaches to the side of the Con cord-Oliarlodte road are being built up again now. State highway forces have been engaged in this work for some time and good progress Is being made now that rains are coming with regularity. It was practically im possible to do much during the drought but substantial sides are now being built along the entire highway from thus city to Charlote. Chief of Police Talbirt made con tractors on the hotel job move from Union street a big pile of sand which was piled up yesterday afternoon. The sand was practically across the entire street when Chief Talbirt advised the contractors that it would have to be moved. • Chief Talbirt stated that he wanted to aid the contractors in any way possible but that materials could not be so placed as to block traffic. West j will formally preseut his resignation! as pastor of I*rospeet and Centre Presbyterian Churches, to accept work as pastor of the church at Southport in the Wilmington Presby tery. Rev. E. M. Craig, of Hickory, will also present his resignation at that time. He expects to become Superintendent of Horae Missions in the Syno dos Appalachia.
