New York. Nov. 39?—The market
today has ;:hoWn a rather heavy tin-

and of a professional nature. Poor
'reports from Manchester and favor-

nut further hedge selling anil liquida

buying on the opening decline had a
steadying erect but sentiment was
very mixed ami rejxirts of an easier
I spot basis restricted operations oti the
bull side. Further liquidation of De

caused the premium to narrow some
what and there has been quite a
I little straddle by spot houses between
New York and Liverpool on both
sides of the market. Guesses as to
I’.te ginning figures for the period vary
considerably and while those issued
today were rather low not much stock
was taken in them at least by the
way the market acted. Some short
covering toward the close by local op
erators caused the market to close
quite firmly.
