the Parent-Teachers Association of
the Kannapolis school.
C. X. Fields, city tax collector, re
ports the collection of a little more
than 82,000 on Monday. This is the
largest amount of money he has ever
collected in one day, Mr. Fields
stated, and he attributes the large
amount to t'ae fact that a penalty on
city taxes became effective December

Prof, and Mrs. Hinton McLeod and
children left Tuesday night for Red
Springs, being called there by the
death of Prof McLeod’s father. The
deceased was eighty years of age and
his death was caused by pneumonia,
he having been ill but a short time,
according to information received
here.

Tuesday for the eastern championship
in the high school elimination scries
and will meet Gastonia in Chapel I
Hill Saturday for the state honors.
