Faggart, who has been seriously ill at her home in No. 11 township for some time, is silghtly better, according to relatives. Tile condition of Miss Lillie Mc- Curdy. of No. 10 township, is 'better, it is said. She has been HI for dome time with an infooted finger and has been under the care of a Charlotte specialist. A number of mills in this county plan to stop next Wednesday for, Christmas, it is reported. Work will; be halted Wednesday night, according "to present plans, and the mills will be idle for the remainder of the week. Tee was reported in all parts of the city this morning, last night being one of the coldest of the present sea son. Clear weather prevailed, follow ing rains for several days. Spencer, secretary of the Cabarrus Farr Association, has re ceived word that James Dutton and his troupe are now in Palestine. Texas. Mr. Dutton was in charge of the free acts at the last Cabarrus County Fair and may return next year, although he l)as not been en gaged yet. Mrs. W. M. Sherri l l received a message Thursday stating that her aunt, Mrs. W. S. Hunter, of Seneca. S C.. slipped on tin streets of An derson. S. C.. Thursday and broke one of her hips. Mrs. Hunter visited Mrs. Sherrill here some time ago and her friends will regret to learn of her accident. C. X. Fields, city tax collector, re ports that business with him has not been so good during the past two weeks. "People want to get through with their Christmas shopping before they pay their taxes,” Mr. Fields ex plained. He added that he expected business to pick up again after Christmas. Five more shopping days until Christmas. Local merchants plan for unprecedented business tomorrow so if you* want to get your presents from stocks of goods not badly picked over, now is the time to buy. And packages should be mailed early. The mails are getting heavier every day so mail yonr packages now. P. O. liangert has sold to Charles D. Watkins for $667.50, property in No. 4 township, according to a deed filed Thursday. Another deed re cords the sale of -property in No. 4 by M. F. Teeter to J. W. Rogers for SIOO, and still another records the sale of property in Ward One by F. M. Youngblood to F. J. Little for $1,650. Tickets to the play, “Wly the Chimes Rang,” a play to be pre sented by the members of the Hi-Y clubs of-the city, have been printed! and are now ready for distribution. A request hag beeen made by Mrs. J. P. Cook, head of the Kings’ Daugh ters, for clothing for boys and girls from the age of one to twelve years. Siioes, stockings and good warm clothes are asked for the King’s Daughters. The supply of this type of clothing hag been running short and the demand is greater than can be supplied, it is said. A Visitor From Idaho. Mooresville Enterprise. Mr. J. Mike Goodman, a native of Cabarrus county, for many years a resident of Hansen, Idaho, was a caller at the Enterprise office Tues day morning. Mr. Goodman was on a visit to his uncle, Mr. J. A. B. Goodman, it being his first visit back to North Carolina and his old home in 29 years. He is a son of Mr. Wil liam Goodman, of No. 7 township, Cabarrus county. He was accompan ied by bis brother, Paul Goodman, and nephew, Cletns plutt*. of n«-nr Mount Pleasant.
