to a message received here today.
The body is being sent to Charlotte
and funeral services will he held here

The Charlotte schixii hoard late
yesterday made formal demand on
the board of county commissioners
for approximately $206,000 said to
be due the city from taxes collected
by the county as the city’s pro rata,
share. A recent audn showed that the
county school board failed to.-- turn
over to the city $200,000 of its
shares of school taxes. The money e
said to -have been used by the coun
ty board in building and equipping
new school buildings in the county.
The county commissioners took no
action on the request for immediate
payment of the sum.
It was understiKMi that Plummer
Stewart, chairman of the county j
school board, would recommend that
the county borrow the money on
short term notes to pay the city's
claim. However, no official action lo
this effect had been taken today.
