TRUE HAPPINESS IN IH,
NO REAL JOY IN IDLENESS

WE are rapidly approaching
another Labor Day, w4ich

vacation period and the retard to
Regular vocations.
While these vacations have
proved enjoyable, and helpful, -the
majority of persons will welcome
. again the return to work. For in
the final analysis one of the gfeat-

eat (sources of human happiness Is
work. And this is a truth that
could be more widely learned to
• advantage.
i Too many follow the rule that
■ the more work they can avoid the
j greater will be their happiness.
There Is no true happiness In an
| idle life. Waste of time is a form
; of thriftlfssness that is as deitruo
I tlve of rightful pleasure as waste
| of money or waste of health.
| Work alone brings happiness,
because work is creative and up
building and because all rightful
Impulses of the human race have
found their fulfillment only in
work.
This does not mean that there
is no correct place In life for vaca
tions or that diversion is not in
accordance with good thrift
You cannot transform a man
j Into a machine and get human
! results. But, within the average
! routine of life, work brings the
, most satisfying happiness—
I that is right upbuilding and
helpful.
! Do not cherish an ambition for
idleness. Wasting time never,
under any circumstances, can bring
lasting Joy.
’At the end of this vacation
period It Is well to remember that
happiness through work is one . of
the fundamentals that can be coqi
tlnually counted on. It is a sple%
